BG Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Really, really fails to get it at all...much like Keane. News of the World
Dan Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 "He would tell me to go to the byline and beat a man, but sometimes you don't have to. I prefer to take the politics out of the game." You wouldn't know what politics was if John Prescott came and smashed an egg in your face you daft t*t
muleskinner Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 "Rafa didn't have confidence in me. I'd play one week, then I'd be out of the team and think 'hold on a minute - last week I scored one and made two. How does that work?' Was it 3 goals in 3 years?
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 He should be directed towards Gerrard's comments about Rafa only recently.
Sion Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 "Rafa didn't have confidence in me. I'd play one week, then I'd be out of the team and think 'hold on a minute - last week I scored one and made two. How does that work?' haha. he makes out like he was having great game after great game but evil Rafa was keeping out of the team out of stubborness. Didn't he make the most appearances for us in his first season? or top 3 anyway? Always amazes me when footballers complain when they're told to do things they don't want to do as well. The amount they get paid they should go to Tesco's and fetch Rafa's tea if he asks them.
CarraLegend Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 What an absolute f***ing c***. "He makes the decisions. Liverpool bought Dirk Kuyt as a striker and they play him right wing. "Rafa has to play him because of the fee they paid for him. He has to justify the price, so he plays him on the right because Fernando is up front. Good grief, utterly f***ing clueless. Pennant, still only 26, revealed: "When I was on the touchline all I could hear was Benitez giving me directions. "At times I'd think 'why don't you just put the batteries in and turn me into a robot'." How dare the manager try and improve you! Obviously not listening to him has got you really far what with now playing for a tin pot Spanish team who'll get relegated this season.
Tones Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Feckin hell. Rafa didnt want a robot, he wanted a footballer. Pity you couldnt have been one you useless c***.
Maldini Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Talented player, hasn't the intelligence or mentality for a big club though.
MFletcher Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 He's as thick as s***. Is anyone surprised by such comments? I find it particularly galling as he was lucky to wear the shirt in the first place.
CarraLegend Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 You have to feel for the lad, only playing for Arsenal under Wenger and Liverpool under Benitez, obviously these pesky foreign managers dont know how to get the best out of him.
carrafan Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Rafa played you in the Champions League final you prick. And you didnt deliver. Should have just passed a low ball to Gerrard in the first half instead of giving him a knee high ball to control.

Should have just passed a low ball to Gerrard in the first half instead of giving him a knee high ball to control. In fairness, he was our best player that night.
carrafan Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 In fairness, he was our best player that night. Always thought that Milan gave him a lot of space which he couldnt use to his advantage. Almost like Arbeloa last year being allowed to repeatedly move into space without being marked and still nothing coming out of it.
Eiler99 Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 "Jermaine Pennant: Rafa Benitez wanted a machine" No, he wanted a footballer, you daft c***.
allawee Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Wasted 5 minutes of my life reading this...my advise is don't even bother! Such a thick footballer, being interviewed by a sh*** paper. And why is he a**licking Arsene Wenger bottom? I echo MFletcher's comment, never even fit to wear the red shirt
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Was it the 2006-07 season that Pennant played a part in every game - or maybe I heard that stat towards the end of the season and he might have missed some time at the end but there was a stage when he was playing very regularily.
Zoob Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) "Rafa didn't have confidence in me. Frosty Jack Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 What a complete c***. "Rafa didn't have confidence in me. I'd play one season, then I'd be out of the team the next and think 'hold on a minute - last season I scored one and made two. How does that work?'
Gomez Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) The fact that he doesn't seem to see a problem with this sentence is what gets me "I always felt that if my game was not 100 per cent there was a chance I would not play in the next game." Yes, and your point is? Edited September 26, 2009 by Gomez
MFletcher Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 In fairness, he was our best player that night. Like f*** he was. I think you'd struggle to find a player starting a Champions League final with as terrible an end product as he displayed in that match. Mascherano was comfortably our best player in the game. Pennant was s***. One of the funniest things I've read in a long time. Scored 1 and made 2? in his dreams is how that works. Three goals in two and a half years, one of which he didn't mean. For an attacking player, in a team of our calibre and with the players around him, that is f***ing shocking.
crisps Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Absolute myth he played well in the CL final. Although I think rafa does have his favourites and his undroppables no matter how s*** they play, no matter who manages Pennant he will still be s****. Was shocked when we signed him.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 How does his goal scoring ratio/tally compare with El Hadji Diouf or Emile Heskey for that matter ()
Tones Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Didnt think he played that well in the CL final. Had pleny of the ball but did f*** all with it. Scored 1 and made 2 in a game? Which game was this??
theredfella Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Absolute myth he played well in the CL final. Although I think rafa does have his favourites and his undroppables no matter how s*** they play, no matter who manages Pennant he will still be s****. Was shocked when we signed him. Kinda agree with that. he played well in the first half but mostly marginal in the second. Masch was our best player by a mile. Defo agree with the second, was never going to be good enough. Always thought Rafa signed him off the back of that game at Anfield (Robbie's comeback) where, in fairness, he played very well.
Cam Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 "I'd play one week, then I'd be out of the team and think 'hold on a minute - last week I scored one and made two. How does that work?' " That's the one that stood out for me, too. Okay, Mr Pennant, exactly how many times did that happen? Great thing is the likes of Gerrard & Carragher will be reading that at Melwood in the morning and p***ing themselves laughing about it.
