madaboutlfc Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 The displays have been decent but I think his crossing and in general attacking play is no where near Aurelio but the kid has done alright and it would be unwise to stunt his growth.. However, not playing aurelio could mean we have a rusty player on our hands who would probably be disgruntled..

Kite Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 His aggressive running is terrific. Really needs to figure out crossing though, moves repeatedly break down when he is a position to cross. Until then I'd prefer to see Aurelio back at the helm.
ChrisC Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 If Aurelio is fit he plays......SIMPLES c***!
richwilks Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Still Aurelio I believe. He's the best left back at the club when fit.
Red Kent Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Still Aurelio I believe. He's the best left back at the club when fit. Got to be Dossena, Aurelio isn't even in the Brazilian squad.
madaboutlfc Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 one thing i have seen with Ashley Cole is that he rarely crosses but in most cases makes a decoy run.. Insua though has been doing fairly well so far
scoose Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Got to be Dossena, Aurelio isn't even in the Brazilian squad.
Bo Benn Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Insua offers a lot attacking wise with his aggression alone. Probably never will have the flair and composure that Aurelio or Johnson has but still has a lot of ability to become a terrific left back. Fabio is over 30 now. No doubt he still has a few years in him but then he does get injured all of the fecking time, think Insua should get as much playing time as possible. Defensively Insua seems very solid as well mind. Incidentally Insua's picture popped up at the top of this treat in the ynwa.tv header. He doesn't have no 48 any longer does he? Whomever is responsible must sure be sacked.
fabfive Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Insua puts in some decent crosses. He did v WHU. But some of our players weren't making the runs. He sent a peach in to the centre of the box and no one was there first half. Like all players he'll not wrap his foot around the ball and it will sail into the stands. Remember he's just getting his confidence from having some first team footy. He'll get better. He'll have more assists and score a couple crackers. But he needs to be rested from time to time as well. Rafa needs to pick those times.
_00_deathscar Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 We still have too few men in the box at times when our full backs/wide men are in good crossing positions.
RedinFL Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) Got to be Dossena, Aurelio isn't even in the Brazilian squad. Neither is Dossena Edited September 21, 2009 by RedintheSun
D.Boon Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Play the best player. That is still Aurelio.
Chili Palmer Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Play the best player. That is still Aurelio. is right.
growler Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Ridiculous, play Insua! Bed him and Johnson into the first team and stabilise the defence. People complain that we don't bring through a player, when we do people want to take him out for a 30 year injury prone player, for no reason.
Hassony Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Aurelio is a top player when fit, but his fitness record makes him unreliable to be first choice I think Insua should start most games, i would play Fabio against chelsea though

A proper footballer.
DanielS Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 The specific reason is that Aurelio is boss at left back. A proper footballer. He also knows how to take a decent corner and free-kick. Something that seems to confuse and confound most of the rest of the squad.

You don't bring through a player to replace someone who is better though. Aurelio when fit is one of the best left backs in the league. Insua is young and will improve.

Leo No.8 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) Aurelio is possibly one of the best left backs in Europe when fit. I think its a very nice situation for everyone at Liverpool except Andrea Dossena! I would play Insua against the 'lesser sides' so we've got Johnson and him being aggressive and getting forward at will on both sides. Then play Aurelio in CL, tougher away games or against other top four sides when we need to retain possession and his set pieces and delivery could make the difference in a tight game (Madrid away / Chelsea home last season etc). I would look to give them a fairly even split of games, possibly with Insua playing a few more because of his greater durability and the fact that there are more teams we'd want to go all out attack against in the league. Great to have two top class options who can each offer something a bit different. Insua is the future of our left back spot, but it is ideal that we can use a fantastic player like Aurelio to take some of the pressure off whilst he is still learning. Think its less of a case of saying 'he's first choice' than horses for courses with two thoroughbred left backs. A position that hasn't been great for us in the past is as strong as it has ever been at the moment. Dossena is decent and a full Italian international and he can't get a look in. Swipe Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Aurelio has to play when fit - for his passing ability and composure if nothing else. He and Johnson as our FBs will add an awful lot to our attacking play as we get to grips with life without Xabi.
Bo Benn Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Or just play Fabio whenever he is fit. Would leave Insua with plenty of playing time.
