people get frustrated when we dont win and turn on kuyt becuase sometimes he seems like he is running around doing very little....but often its his pressure and touch of brilliance which wins games

Love him, love everything about him, am thinking about being him for halloween.

Love him too. But it's not just a question of people coming around to him, is it?

He's improved hugely in the last couple of seasons. His first touch for example is miles better than it used to be.

I seem to remember a long thread arguing about his first touch last season.

He was proper awful at one point. And i like him

Yes, he had some bad games and went throught a dodgy period following on from the death of his father, but a lot of people were claiming he'd been s*** for most of the season and the season before that.

It was only toward the very end of last season when they finally shut up.

Think this is a bit of a leading question, no?

I don't really see how it could have been framed in a more impartial manner.

It was only the second season where i thought he wasn't up for it. Last season he was especially boss. Would happily have him as captain as well.

dirk was pretty dire for his 2nd season here tbh.

he's great dirk, an incredible team player and last year he really grew into the side as an irreplaceable and rediscovered his 1 in 3 (?) ratio for goals which is all you can ask for from a wide forward.

he is unlike any other player i can remember though, with a touch so bad at times its scarcely believable yet so good at others.

I think Dirk's first touch is great if he's planning on taking only that touch (e.g. passing it to someone immediately or shooting first time). His first touch is quite inconsistent if he's planning on taking multiple touches.

He's seriously boss though.

Exactly.

His attitude has never been less than admirable but he scored 3 League goals all season, and only one in open play, from centre forward in his second season. That just wasn't acceptable nor sustainable and I see no need to try to downplay just how much he struggled, or to claim that it was all to do with his dad, or that he was clearly going to come good in the end.

Admitting just how much he struggled then, and for how long, in no way detracts from his bossness now. In fact it enhances it - I can think of very few players who have worked so hard to overcome their limitations, work at their game and show the mental fortitude to improve himself to that extent.

The move out wide re-invented and saved him and I don't think you could find many if any players who offer the same workrate combined with goals from out there.

He is behind only Torres, Gerrard and Reina for me in his importance to the side now.

Always been a good player and even in his "off" season he wasn't as bad as people liked to make out.

what was it someone said on here last season ? " He's been brilliant every second of every match " or some b******s like that.

He's been s*** at times ( Even Dalglish and Barnes had s*** games ) and he's been brilliant
