sutty Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Right then What do we reckon the team will be. I'm anticipating a curve ball.
CarraLegend Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Dunno what the team will be but Kevin Davies will elbow at least 9 of our players and we'll probably lose to a stoppage time winner from Johan Elf***ingmander.
Stevie H Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Right then What do we reckon the team will be. I'm anticipating a curve ball.voronin starting in place of kuyt.
richwilks Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I'd go... Reina Johnson - Skrtel - Carra - Insua Benayoun - Gerrard - Masch - Riera Kuty - Torres Think SK may start though as we'll need a dominant centre back. Lucas will probably start as well and Riera may miss out.
sutty Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 voronin starting in place of kuyt. Kuyt missing out is my curve ball Riera in. There's the potential for the collective ill feeling to possess Rafa and play Gerrard deep lying mid as well I suppose.

RedHarvest Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 (edited) The curveball will be Lucas starting again PepeJohnson Carra Kyrgiakos Insua Masch Lucas Kuyt Gerrard Riera Torres Edited August 28, 2009 by RedHarvest
Knox_Harrington Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Think SK may start though as we'll need a dominant centre back.God forbid Skrtel dominate.
Knox_Harrington Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 You f***ing k****eadI know. Unnecessary that.
richwilks Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 God forbid Skrtel dominate. I don't think he dominates aerially as well as he could. I think that's a key area we're missing at the back, a centre back who'll win every ball tossed up. Skrtel isn't that IMO.
Chili Palmer Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Same team as Monday night, just with a friendly word from Rafa to 'SORT IT OUT!'

He needs to start dominating. The signing of the Greek indicates the manager doesn't expect to see that dominance this season at least.

The fact we only have Carra, one permantly injured centre back, and Skrtel coming back from injury would have had more to do with it rather than specifics in Skrtels game.

Because: a) He wanted to buy Shawcross and Turner which indicates he thinks he needs an aerially dominant centre half capable of being such for years to come. b) We're crying out for a ball playing centre back in Agger's more problematic absence.

Ignore the fact that we happily accomodated Sami in the squad for 2 years with the 3 without it being a mark against any of them Treading all over the podcast here.

He should just ninja kick Kevin Davies, like he did with Jo.Thats the way to dominate in the air

Yeah, fair point on the podcast so I'll leave there until it comes out. Edited August 28, 2009 by Knox_Harrington

I think if it was a real concern for Rafa he would have looked at getting that sort of replacement in, even before Johnson. If i remember correctly we weren't looking at getting a centre back in until Agger got injured, suggesting to me that he would have been happy with Carra, Agger, Skrtel and a 4th choice (Kids or a cheap buy)
richwilks Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Agger needs to sort himself out. He's a massive miss.
sutty Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Agger needs to sort himself out. He's a massive miss.Doesn't get in the team.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Same team as Monday night, just with a friendly word from Rafa to 'SORT IT OUT!'Babel & Voro can f*** right off the bench though. Riera deserves a start b) We're crying out for a ball playing centre back in Agger's more problematic absence.Permanent absence
schmuckdonald Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I know Megson plays differently to Allardyce, but i'm wondering if they'll try and target Insua in the air, putting Davies on the right for the knockdowns to Elmander.
