Bailo Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Let's absolutely smash this lot to make up for yesterday please.
Stefano Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I can see a mauling or a frustrating 0-0. Depends how the players react after yesterday. Reina Johno Carra Skrtel Insua Bennayoun Gerrard Masch Riera Torres Kuyt
richwilks Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I can see a mauling or a frustrating 0-0. Depends how the players react after yesterday. Reina Johno Carra Skrtel Insua Bennayoun Gerrard Masch Riera Torres Kuyt I'd be tempted to do that as well. Get Johnson and Riera chucking the crosses in and get Benayoun to try and get the ball either side of the centre backs. I wouldn't mind hearing that Voronin and Babel had been put down prior to the game as well.
Swipe Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I'll be happy if Yossi plays. Lads will hopefully be chomping at the bit for this one.
RedHarvest Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 What exactly did Voronin do wrong yesterday? He had eastern European hair
schmuckdonald Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 There's no merit in playing Babel on the left at home against Stoke who are going to play a 10-0-0, it isn't conduscive to his game whatsoever. Beanyoun should start if Riera isn't fit.
Walrus Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 What exactly did Voronin do wrong yesterday? There was that horrible cross where he put it about 20m from the closest teammate and he dwelled on the ball a couple of times and ended up losing it. Believe me, I was quite excited to see him come on ( ) as I don't bear a grudge against him or anything. Yesterday he was really poor though. Babel-esque.
CarraLegend Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 We'll win our next 6 league games in my opinion. And we probably need to with a tough little run of Chelsea away, Sunderland away, Utd home and Fulham away after that. Then City, a derby and Arsenal not long after. A good chance to get a little run going and build momentum.
Sion Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 We'll win our next 6 league games in my opinion. And we probably need to with a tough little run of Chelsea away, Sunderland away, Utd home and Fulham away after that. Then City, a derby and Arsenal not long after. A good chance to get a little run going and build momentum. Who do you think you are spreading false hope? We've lost the league already haven't you heard? Losing at one of the hardest aways in the league thanks to referee decisions with a number of key players out is a clear sign we're not even going to finish top 4.

And we probably need to with a tough little run of Chelsea away, Sunderland away, Utd home and Fulham away after that. Then City, a derby and Arsenal not long after. A good chance to get a little run going and build momentum. That'll do nicely! Agree with Sion. Hopefully Spurs will take quite a few points off our challengers at WHL this season. It's a tough place to go.
psl Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Reina JohnsonCarragherSkrtelInsua MascheranoGerrard KuytBenayounRiera Torres. is what I would go for.
Nebraska Red Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 have Stoke parked their bus yet? is everybody available after yesterday? do we want Carra and Skrtel starting if 1 of them is crocked? is Gerrard anywhere near 100%? hopefully, Rafa will sit Lucas and mascherano down together and spell out their duties, and how they need to play together as Lucas seemed to be the only one of those 2 who had a clue what was supposed to happen. was Babel left to walk home last night?
CarraLegend Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I remember last season we pushed everyone forward going for the winner and Stoke cleared the ball to Fuller who was basically through on goal but he turned round and passed it back, they were that negative. Hopefully this year we dont get corrupt officials who disallow perfectly good goals.
fred milne Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I'd persist with 4-2-3-1 for this one: ReinaJohnson Skrtel Carragher InsuaLucas MascheranoKuyt Gerrard BenayounTorres If Agger and Riera are available then I'd play them instead of Skrtel and Kuyt.
Sion Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Let's absolutely smash this lot to make up for yesterday please. Nevermind making up for yesterday, we should smash them to make up for not scoring (well according to the ref) a goal against them in over 3 hours of football last year.
Clay Davis Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 We've never not won when i've been in the Kop. So we'll probably lose now.

Nearly spot on with that, I'd probably drop Gerrard in mid though and play Riera. Edited August 17, 2009 by Benzo-13
Kahnee Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 was Babel left to walk home last night? He was sent out to the bus, but he missed
stressederic Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 He was sent out to the bus, but he missed He found himself surrounded by 3 other people and decided to just give up and stop moving.
Benzo-13 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 He found himself surrounded by 3 other people and decided to just give up and stop moving. Or he jumped outta the way of the bus?
