The best transfer that could have happened this year would have been getting rid those scum bags. It seems they wont be giving Rafa any more money!! What I want to know is why they seem to be getting an easy ride, things need to be stepped up at the ground because as long as they are here it will only get worse. How can we look to winning no19 whilst we are starting with Lucas, Babel and bringing f***in Vorinin off the bench. Absolute f***in joke

Would it be worth reminding you that Lucas and Babel cost a combined total of 18 million quid?

That's got nothing to with rich owners and all to do with wasting money on mediorce players.

The Americans have nothing to do with our defeat today.

your f***in jokin are'nt you, go on tell me you really mean that. Everyone knows we lack depth, I think you will find that is their department

Their both good squad players, and in any case I am concerned with this transfer window! Admittedly we have spent well on Johnson and Aquilani but we have recouped all that and more, I really hope Chili is right in that he seems convinced we will spend again. We need to!

Today had f*** ALL to do with the owners, or spending of the net. Awful defending, awful passing and no consistency or flow of play where to blame for today's defeat.

I know people say pre-season is not important, but if you want to get some rhythm going that is where to build it. Where do people expect us to pull out some form?

Biscan it's not just about today, never implied that todays defeat was the owners fault. I am thinkin more long term, like the rest of this season and on today's evidence we will struggle. Fingers crossed we get that attacking player in that we need, and please dont tell me were ok with what we have. No-one can say Silva would not improve us

That team can win the league, no two ways about it. The owners can't be an excuse to throw in the towel, the be all and end all of this club are not the owners. You can't just throw money at something and expect the concentration and form to appear out of thin air.

You're having a go at them for something that's completely out of their control. Do I think they should **** off, of course, but are they the reason we lost today, not at all. We lost because the team didn't show up until we went a goal down and again we gave up two goals off of set pieces. Their first was because no one closed them down after their initial attempt from the free kick and the second was a header directly off a free kick. Carra has to do better in that instance, he was playing with a knock to his head though so maybe that's why he didn't get to it, still it's not good enough.

In the end, all this loss means is we aren't going undefeated this season and we have another week to wait to see if we can get the three points. This ONE loss in august is hardly going to cost us the league, we as fans and the players need to get over this minor setback and continue to support our team.

Also out of the players your mentioned, Lucas was hardly horrible. Babel looked his usual self and that is why there is a good portion of our supporters who DON'T feel he needs to be given a run of games. He did **** all today and continually does so but his pace provides us with a threat the others don't so I understand Rafa's idea, it just didn't pan out because Babel's game intelligence is simply not of the level of our other players. Someone needs to sit him down with Torres and Gerrard and have them all chat about what they want to do on the pitch because there were times that Babel could've gone free but didn't do to a failure to anticipate a pass to himself or he could've sent one of the others through but failed to see/anticipate their run.

Agree with most of this, but did you actually read what the thread opened with? Yes, today has re-ignited my anger towards the americans and no today is most certainly not their fault. But if the next 2 weeks passes without a Silva like signing I will know that Rafa has been shafted....AGAIN!!!

we've got no money. today notwithstanding, we are not going to win the league under the current owners. the manager is good but he's not something out of the bible.

had we won today this thread would not be here. when we win, Rafa gets the praise. when we lose, the owners get the blame. the team on the park today was good enough to win. the problem was too many of our players played s***.

Don't worry they're getting a brutal leaflet-ing at the Stoke game - that'll learn 'em.

Can I ask who are the saviours waiting in the wings ready to save us and spend all their own money on big name players once we force the current lot out?

I'd love a scouse multi billionaire but we've missed the boat, best get used to it. Today wasn't about owners or money, it was just good players playing poorly.

Gunga I have already said it is not just about today and it is noticeable that the americans seem to be getting an easy ride. Please remember we have not invested a penny yet. My concern is how can we continue to improve if the investment is not there? I am not asking for some mega rich owners to come in and do a man citeh, just someone who can invest and help us to stay competitive. This will not happen whilst those two scumbags own our club, in fact I fear things will only get worse. And it seems because they have stopped spouting s*** through the media about all things LFC, the fans are beginning to accept they are better the devil you know.

I'm bitterly disapointed by the owners of the club.

We had no top class centre half on the bench, Skrtel injured sends alarm through the team.

Gerrard was clearly not fully fit but we only have him and Torres as an attack, no forwards brought in during summer.

The squad is weak..this has an effect on the performances.

Having said that, I don't quite understand the decision to play Gerrard when he looked so far from fitness. Thats surely what Benayoun is in the squad for ?

Just hope we improve rapidly...but this squad is f***ing paper thin.

United have just lost the best player in the world and a key striker, replacing them both with a winger from Wigan and an injury prone player who was relegated last season. Arsenal have lost players and Chelsea have marginally improved and are going through a transitional period.

On top of that you've got the quality of players that we have, the position we are in and the level of which we compete. Yes it would have been nice to have bought someone else, but based on what we saw last season, we didn't need Villa or Silva, we shouldn't need to spend 40 Million just to beat Wigan, Stoke etc (The places where we lost the league).

I hate this attitude of throwing in the towel based on finances and the rubbish that is net spend. We have a team that can win the league, it's down to the manager to get the best out of that team.

And I repeat, the owners aren't to blame for todays loss.

we've sold, or released, three of them.

Thats where the net spend comes in. Think it through Ant lad.

You have managed to write three paragraphs that have nothing remotely to do with what you have highlighted!

This result had nothing to do with the owners. It had to do with losing an intregal part of the side. It'll take a while to arrange things differently Til then I expect us to look worse for a while.

Have to take issue with the idea that the owners are passive in us having a squad that can cope with the circumstances.

We've lost 3 key players and brought in 1 plus one who is injured. Thats before we get to building on what we had and pushing on.
