Don't know what's going on with him,but I've just seen on LFCTV that he's off to Blackpool on loan again. Two absolutely terrific goals he's scored against Southport whilst in our pre-season side-absolutely fantastic goals.

Is he going to stay here-looks to have an awful lot of talent to me.

Not only according to the BBC

I think it's a shame that we sold him, from what I'd seen and heard he could have become a valuable addition to the squad; find it slightly strange that we sold him. Any thoughts from those more in the know on why we let him go?

His attitude certainly earlier on was questionable. Nights out with Momo and Mark Gonzalez, would you believe. I know he was definitely rated. Seems like he's knuckled down now though but earlier days may have cost him.

Two pre-season goals isn't exactly what you should use to judge a player. If he had set world alight in the championship the previous season then maybe he would be a talent we could use. But from what I know he is only a decent player in that league. The lad is 21 now, wouldn't we have seen more of him by now to suggest we should keep him?

I don't think we have ever had regret selling one of our academy players to other clubs before, very much doubt Hammill will be the first.

Hamill far too often looked the best player on the park, I'm struggling as to why we let him go.

Where did he too often look the best player ?

In Dunfermline, Southampton ? Their games aren't generally televised.

If you mean at reserve level, then that was a while ago, other players stood out for us and reserve football is the crudest of indicators.

Hammill has looked a decent prospect but where is he realistically going to get in our side. He needs games to be fair to him and if he was really as good as people think then why aren't other top clubs signing him up ?

So where did El Zhar impress to get his chance, and which top clubs will be after him next summer when we get rid for some minimal fee?

He's impressed me in our first team at times. More to the point, he's impressed Rafa.

Who knows who'll be in for him, he's not up for grabs like Hammill is. I've time for Hammill I really have but there's hardly been a clamour for his signature has there ?

Time will tell if we were wrong to let him go. If he ends up setting the championship alight, and earns a move to one of the teams in the top half of the premiership, then we can say we should have kept him. But i dont remember us regretting letting go off a player who came through the youth system. Ill be surprised if we end up regretting this one.

I hope / expect that with many of these players - Hamill, Anderson, Hobbs.... the transfers have include a sell on clause giving us a decent % of any future sale.

Yeah i would hope Rafa had the sense to do that, maybe another good post parry move.

Seems like the Championship is his level. As people have already said, for his age and the type of player he is he should have set the Championship alight by now to stand a chance. I'm not overly keen on El Zhar, but if it were a choice between the two i'd rather Nabil.

That was last summer mate - an LFCTV repeat.

Exactly. El Zhar did alright coming on last season, and Rafa believes he deserves a new contract on the back of that and what he's seen in training.

Hammill did alright at a club at the bottom of the championship, no-one else has been in for him at a very low price.

People just need to accept that he isn't good enough for our first team. Massive locals>foreigners undercurrent to all this.

I think its a shame that he was let go but is he really better than Kuyt, Riera and Babel? He had all the tricks but so did Mark Walters. You have to trust Rafa on this one. I do wonder though much better El Zar is than Adam, not much is my guess.

well, El Zhar plays for Liverpool and Hammill plays for Barnsley. I'm guessing maybe El zhar has a lot more about his game.

And as well as talent, there will be many more factors. Maybe, just maybe El Zhar has impressed with his attitude, work rate, willingness to learn and train hard. He certainly seems to be a young player with a very good attitude, and has show he can be part of a premier league squad.

its f***ing incredible isnt it

why people worry so much when we get rid of players

He has joined Barmsley

There is a reason for this

El Zhar will be a Liverpool player next season, there is a reason for that too

but Hamill is English. and we all know Rafa hates english players coming through the ranks. he always releases them, and time after time he is proven wrong, as all the players he releases come back to haunt us, with their blinding talent.

the bottom line is, not one single player who has come through our acadamy who rafa has released has turned out to be even remotely good enough to be as much as a squad player for us

I wouldn't mind having Hobbs at the moment.

But you are correct.

There have been players who gone to lower leagues and come back mate, its not all black and white. Who do you think would buy El Zhar if we sold him?

We could say that not a single young and unknown youth player Rafa has signed has come through to be a regular in the first team. We released Warnock, Blackburn now value him at £12m according to their manager so thats one for player who came through, released and turned out ok right there. No left back since Warnock left has looked that much better than him, not least £8m Dosenna. Its just not black and white. On Hammil though, I don't think he is better right now than Kuyt, Babel, Benayoun or Rieira but I think he is better than El Zhar. I have no problem, with him being released either.
