Red Kent Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Worst case scenerio - No Carra, Agger or Skrtel, then only one or two available. If two or three are available then no problem, but if only one available then personally I would go for: Kelly Johnson xxx Insua If none available then; Kelly Johnson Ayala Insua Although still concerned that the defence is so young and inexperienced, would it be prudent to play Dossena instead ?

Smith Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 think agger will be ready, reckon rafa will risk him
Stefano Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Agger hasn't played for a while. Could be Carra/San Jose.
Stevie H Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 who's marking crouch then? oh that's right, we use zonal don't we. i wish sami was still here.

madaboutlfc Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 i think we will play higher up the pitch and crouch and whoever will not get the ball for spurs.. 75% possession

Molby Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I think this CB crisis will have far reaching consequences if not resolved soon as soon as it became apparent that Xabi would leave I was thinking about how important Agger would be in carrying the ball out of defence; I thought that Agger in this role plus a genuine flying full back that we could find easily would possibly make up for Xabi (if Aquilani turns out to be good, and fit) but as evidenced through the pre-season, Agger's fitness is a major worry also, although many disagree, I was convinced Rafa would play 3 at the back sometimes, in a kind of 3-4-2-1 formation; that's also a dim prospect now and we have Kelly effectively covering 2 positions and the other two kids looking a bit ropey at CB at the moment I would say not only do we need the kid from Hull, we need him to be a good footballing CB is he? oh and some spending money would be handy too, naturally

growler Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 anyone know where Darby has gone? Thought he was going to get a run at RB too. Lets not forget Degen (although I am still trying to)
New York Red Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Christ. Fingers crossed. Let's hope for the best. This isn't good at all. With these bloody injuries, and not one off injuries I might add, we are really dicing with death here. We need another CB, end of story. I don't want to be stuck in march with Agger's back still hurting him; Skrtel's hamstring playing him up for a second time; Carra soldiering on and clearly struggling; Kelly getting a right seeing to and barely keeping up. This is not good. Carra has to transition this season into number three, yet our future starters seem to have disturbing injuries. This is not a good way to start the season.
Zoob Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Don't Spurs also have a centre back crisis - Woodgate, King and Dawson all injured aren't they?

floyd Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Whoever we have at the back, we should muller these. How we lost to these last season after battering them for 80 minutes is still yet to be made into an episode of, Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World's

At his best he's our top defender, we want him rejuvenated not winding down to retirement.
muleskinner Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Doubt it will be 4-4 but I'm just about convinced it will be a draw. King and Bassong are available for them. Crouch and Defoe will be a test for whoever we have at the back, Mascherano and Lucas will also have a tough afternoon against Palacios, Huddlestone and Modric.
Red Kent Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 Dawson and Bassong are fit according to Sky.
