I can't work out how I feel. I fecking loved that man! And to find out the information via LFCtv just as he's scoring vs Derby.

Still. Excited by the prospect of him being replaced by people I'd not heard of a month ago.

I hadn't really heard of Alonso a month prior to us getting him, so as far as I am concerned that aint a bad thing!

Oh aye, I genuinely meant it! I don't profess to know that much about foreign leagues, save for what I claim from this site as my own information to my mates.

are you pretending to be a muppet

Now you're dead to me also.

Seriously though, i have fallen out of love with him over the past 2-3 weeks.

Aye, no matter how tortuous it's been the last few weeks, and how much the Rafa/Xabi row has rumbled on in the last 12 months, I've got nowt in my heart but affection for him and thanks for what he's done for us over the last 5 years. An elegant player, a class act, a dignified individual, and a European Champion with Liverpool Football Club.

He maintained dignity and never slagged the club or the fans off.. The guy was class and embraced Liverpool and the culture of the city.. Class on and off the pitch.. Id say good luck to him as long its not against us..

I dont wish him luck, I detest Madrid and he's irrelevant to us now so I dont care what he does. But thank him for playing his part in what was the greatest night of my life and being a great player for 5 years. And I loved his fluffy hair.

He's a quality player and we got a decent innings out of him.

Agree, One of my favourite ever players, and always seemed like a class guy. But i won't wish him success at that circus of a club.

He put in a written transfer request, and i didn't like a couple of his comments lately. he was great for us, but i really don't give a f*** how he does anymore

neither do I, and as long as he is THERE he can never achieve another thing as long as he lives in footballing terms as far as I care, but that doesn't change how much I like him as a player and as an inividual.

wish him all the best!

Im glad hes gone id rather he left now if his hearts not in the club that goes for any of our current players!

Thanks for the memories Xabi

Kneejerk reaction time

Hopefully we've all been over rating Alonso's part in the team (liverpool fans love a good overrating). He gets very little direct assists and scores very few goals. In theory his job is very simple and shouldn't be too hard to find someone who can do a job almost as good or even with added dimension
