growler Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Lots of stories this morning about Carslberg put on warning regarding sponsorship. Not surprising really, when the mancs have just secured 80mil for 4 seasons from an insurance company in this climate. I always thought Carlsberg never really took advantage of our relationship. I imagined an ad something like this: 'Carlsberg don't do cup finals, but if we did, they would be something like this...' cue the clips from 2001 UEFA cup and and FA cup finals, the 2003 league cup, 2005 final and 2006 FA Cup final. 'Carlsberg and Liverpool. The best partnership in the world. Probably.' Would have helped them and us. LAzy gits. I assume a new sponsor would be someone with potential to also sponsor the stadium too? Any suggestions, other than Coca Cola? Don't like the idea of Virgin... What about RBS? :-)

Stew F Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 And a good way to alienate s*** loads of their current customers
bazz Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 We haven't maximised our contracts with Carlsberg for many a year and have really missed out on bigger deals that would have extended our budget for players. Its long overdue that we move into a partnership with another company. We need to maximise our standing in the game and get the best deals available.
Swipe Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Always thought it was a rubbish sponsor anyway. and they're responsible for making green a viable colour for our away kits aren't they?
Will Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 We haven't maximised our contracts with Carlsberg for many a yearWhy do you say that?
£440,000 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I think it might well be : Or: Why? Hope it doesn't end up being Walmart. Know nothing about the other lot.
Jezzman Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) Why? Hope it doesn't end up being Walmart. Know nothing about the other lot.The GMR group were interested in buying Liverpool not that long ago. GMR is owned by Grandi Rao who also owns Dehli Daredevils cricket team. I read somewhere that they never walked away and I'm just guessing they/he could be back with an offer for the shirt sponsorship, or even the stadium naming rights. Edit: forgot this http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...mp;&cc=4716 Wal-Mart was just one of the yanks' buddies.... it's got to be a company with s***loads of cash. Samsung or LG is other alternatives... Edited June 25, 2009 by Jezzman
Dominus Maximus Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 A source told the News of the World LOL, Bascombe again.
Walrus Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Why would Wal-Mart want to advertise in the UK/Europe/Asia? Isn't it a chain, which predominantly operates in the US?
DanielS Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Why would Wal-Mart want to advertise in the UK/Europe/Asia? Isn't it a chain, which predominantly operates in the US? Yep. They own Asda. That's the face of Wal-Mart in the UK. Wouldn't fancy that on our shirts for £100m a year because I am a snob.

Ed the Wool Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Watch it be RBS. G and H get 70m off their debt.
stressederic Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 What are the odds on United using the Ronaldo money to become our new sponsors?
theredfella Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 That would be class. They're also about the only company I could stomach having the naming rights for our new ground.
Hassony Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 It should be YNWA. We can get £80m together can't we? Gravy will refuse to chip in
