Just said it in other thread, as ridiculous as £80m is - and no-one can turn it down - who will they replace him with?

No-one else like him. Certainly no-one who they could get that'd replace his goals

think its a good move for us. Unless they spend the 80m on messi, I cant see what they can do with the cash to replace him.

Slightly worrying is that they have over 100m to spend on a midfield

To be fair, they'd have been able to spend what they want on a midfield anyway. They always do.

This was on the Beeb gossip page this morning. Looks like it was bang on:

The Spanish media are reporting details of a 'leaked' contract for 24-year-old Ronaldo, which involved a transfer fee of £80m and a six-year contract with a salary of £9.5m, including an inbuilt 25% rise every year.

80 million is a lot of money. United are easily getting the better end of the deal. :(

We'll see. As much as a c*nt as he is he dragged Utd to the title last season and came up with some very important goals again the season just gone. He is pretty much irreplaceable imo.

I wonder how much of the £80m Ferguson will have to spend on transfers. I imagine Ribery will be top of the list and probably Benzema.

£80m ?

f*** off, thats stupid money.

They can buy David Villa, Eto'o, Alonso. There's virtually no limit to the Mancs transfer targets now. That sort of money buys pretty much any player they want.

Exactly. He is irreplaceable, he's their best player by a country mile. It's not that easy buying top class players and even with £80m, Man City and the Chavs can easily outbid them. If they buy 3 top class players, they can only play one at a time, and they've got a fairly strong squad anyway.

Basically, Ronaldo has single handedly won them the league for the last two seasons, he's been the difference in those matches they've struggled, he's been the scorer of the crucial first goal.

As long as they club they approach wants to sell or the player wants the move. It also pushes up the prices they will be quoted. Its definitely good news for them, but it isn't all sunshine.

Nailed on for Villa to go there now i reckon. They can pay whatever they like.

I think they'll go for Ribery. And, as you said in the other thread, keep Tevez.

As if Alonso would go there.

Agree with this. The rest of the team has been unbalanced. £80 million goes a long way to allowing you to balance a team

Massive money for a one off type player. Will enable them to strengthen other parts but it will take more than one player to replace his goals - esp if Tevez is going too. The two names that I heard from a fairly reliable contact were Benzema and Valencia - no surprises to anyone. But Huntelaar is a possible too, I understand.

Part of Ronaldo's strength for United is his 'mystique', teams were almost afraid of what he might do as much as what he was doing thus giving him more time and others more space. A more functional player might not be afforded that luxury. Add to the mix, Tevez possibly going, Scholes/Giggs/Neville at the end of their careers - could be an interesting summer for them. No doubt, they will smell of roses however.

Its s**** news for us. Pushes us even further down the food chain of transfer fees.

The price of loads of players has just gone up for us as well. Agents will be scrambling to get their hands on some of that loot. Rafa will do well to get them to answer the phone.
