Iver Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I really hope we conclude our transfer business swiftly this Summer. Another long, drawn out, Barry-esque saga is the last thing we need. The official date for the re-financing deal to the approved is July 1st. I wonder are Rafa's hands tied until then? If so, it could be deterimental.

stonty Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 talk about long and drawn out what about your thread titles? I cant' wait until text abbreviation becomes the official language of this throw-away society
Rimbeux Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Not convinced this is a reason or the reason, if we can strike a deal we will, the issue will be one that most clubs will face, is the money in the bank to make down-payments, do the club want all the money up front, can we agree a payment structure? As has been mentioned such as Chelsea and Man City can strike deals quickly because they pay cash up front and dont have to spend time haggling over a payment structure.
Jarg Armani Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Wait and see what Rafa says. If things are different to what he signed up for he won't be quiet about it.
JonShar Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I think we'll be done and dusted by August 31, any longer would be sheer madness.
Benitez Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 talk about long and drawn out what about your thread titles? hehe I think he'd put the whole post in the thread title if he could

Scruffysa Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Personally, I think we'll be wrapped up before pre season....Rafa has already stated this desire.....and he has stated that we don't need to sell to buy All this rubbish about us wanting Barry is pure press speculation, not a quote anywhere....... Just take Rafa at face value, what he says is what it is.....he is pretty much Shankly reincarnate, and now he has the power to be too...... Just gotta wait now......so smoke a fat one and chill people YNWA

Igors Uncle Dave Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 The vast majority of proposed transfers we see around are nothing but speculation from the media and agents intent on selling papers and upping the proposed fees for their players. Many of the names linked with the club are nothing more than agents trying to get big name transfers for their targets. Rafa has a budget and has been working bhind the scenes for months. Was Barry a real Liverpool target this time around? We will never know and it is time to put it to bed and move on, he chose his club, now it is for us to find someone who wants to play for us and money is of no concern. Personnally I would much prefer to see the side we have now playing next season with a couple of inclusions, not losing the likes of Xabi or Masch. We have the nucleus of a amajor force in world football, we have players that other clubs want to buy to improve their sides. This shows that Rafa et al are doing it right on the budget that they have, we just need to tweak that side and allow one or two good players to come in. So to the title of the thread, when will this happen? It will happen when Rafa agrees a deal to bring in the player/players he wants. Stadler and Waldorf have apparently given him assurances that the money is available, however much that is. I dont see it being a huge amount but Rafa is shrewed enough to know that he can use existing players as bargaining chips. There will be exits with the likes of Dossena and perhaps Babel. They will either bring in additional spending or be used to smoothe the way in deals. Remember this, very few deals these days are conducted with money up front, they are spread over a period of time with clauses added into the contracts. Do we actually need £50M now to bring in Silva and a couple of other players or will £20M with assurances do? Time will tell but I expect a big name player at the club within the next two weeks, perhaps sooner.
