Jezzman Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 .... this Summer? The last I think I heard was that there was some diciplinary problems with him in Greece - Olympiakos right? Haven't heard anything at all since then... anyone heard anything?
cymrococh Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 He's pissed the manager off at Olympiakos: http://www.tribalfootball.com/liverpools-l...cos-bust-230799Liverpool winger Sebastian Leto is in hot water at Olympiacos. Leto is facing disciplinary action after a series of bust-ups with Olympiacos coach Ernesto Valverde. "During yesterday's training session there was an issue with footballer Sebastian Leto who for the umpteenth time gave in to disciplinary problems forcing me to send him to the dressing room," Valverde said in a statement on the Olympiacos website. "For this specific incident I have informed the administrative section of the club which is there to deal with it. As I have said in the past, for me the top priority is discipline and the calmness of the team which comes above all of us." That's from March.
McBain Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Probably told him to get a haircut and he did a Redondo

A Spaniard managing a Greek team using the word 'umpteenth' - quality. I can just picture him wearing a flat cap, green wellies and bringing his whippets to training as well.

I know it's a bit of a stretch, but maybe you can picture him using a Spanish or even (gasp!) a Greek expression that translates to "umpteenth"?
Hightown Phil Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 That fella isn't manager anymore. Temuri Ketsbaia's got the gig.
Magic8Ball Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 You don't cross Leto.and that's part of the problem, he doesn't cross
Maldini Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I wonder if getting him back and moving Riera on is one of the ways we're thinking of generating funds
Rimbeux Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I wonder if getting him back and moving Riera on is one of the ways we're thinking of generating funds He's not very good
Rimbeux Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 He is. Evidently, without doubt it's only dodgy passports standing in his gifted little way
Hassony Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I wonder if getting him back and moving Riera on is one of the ways we're thinking of generating funds might as well get traore back and move Auerilio, and guthrie back to replace mascherano...etc
allez les rouges Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 at times in the reserves he was unplayable. he looked like he could do anything.
Sion Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I didn't see him do one useful thing in the first team. He can be a world beater for the reserves, it counts for feck all. If we're replacing him with Riera it'd be beyond bizarre.

I wouldnt swap him for riera though. I think riera has had a good season.
Maldini Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) I didn't see him do one useful thing in the first team. He can be a world beater for the reserves, it counts for feck all. If we're replacing him with Riera it'd be beyond bizarre. He only started 2 or 3 games for us FFS! I've never understood the stick the lad gets, he's a good player. I agree. his being brilliant in reserves is worth nothing. the point i was making is that he has potential. I wouldnt swap him for riera though. I think riera has had a good season. Put it this way, we need to sell someone to get cash this summer to sign the players to take us to the next level. Riera probably won't be first choice next season anyway if we can get he cash together to buy Silva. So would you rather lose Alonso from our first team and keep Riera for the bench, or sell Riera, replace him with Leto and keep Alonso? Even if we get rid of Leto and bring in someone like Adam Johnson (contract up next year), then Riera is our the player we'd get the most for without losing much. It's a no-brainer for me. We need to be a bit creative in the transfer marker this summer. Edited May 25, 2009 by Maldini
sirstan Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Do we not still have issues with him requiring a work permit though - thought the main reason he went out on loan was because the last application was turned down.
Raj Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Evidently, without doubt it's only dodgy passports standing in his gifted little way that panel has given work permits to s**** players in the past too.leto is talented.
GWistooshort Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 From the Liverpool Daily Post this morning............. "Benitez also wants to solve the work permit problem for Argentine winger Sebastian Leto, who has spent the last season on loan to Greek club Olympiacos. “We will try to work something out, I do not want him to go,” said the Liverpool manager. The reasons for refusing the permit were his lack of international and club experience. Benitez was critical of that decision, but is likely to sell Leto if the permit is refused once again." http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverp...534-23720819/2/

McBain Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Aye. They both are indeed rubbish so nothing lost there
