This is a bit of an extension of a discussion I was having with some friends (yes I have friends, feck off Kahnee) the other day in the pub.

Which players in Liverpool's squad do you really like? Now this isn't the same as who is the best player in the squad, but more about the players that you love to see do well.

For me there's a couple. I like Arbeloa alot. I think he's a really good rightback. Has had some big games against really good players (Ronaldo, Messi etc) and I respect anyone who can be the first to celebrate a goal with the scorer regardless of where he was on the pitch when the ball went in.

Riera is another I quite like. I think the way he helped guide Insua through those first few games was brilliant; constantly talking to him, reassuring him etc. Exactly what you'd like to see from an experienced player.

Probably the main player in the squad for me though is Dirk Kuyt. I absolutely adore him. I can sort of understand those who talk about his shortcomings, but despite that I can't help but like him. Scores massive goals. Has balls of steel. Would die for the club (and then would probably still keep going).

An honourable mention (for a past player) to Luis Garcia who could do no wrong in my eyes.

YES YES YES. Absolute legend of a guy.

Torres because he seems like such a humble guy, which is so rare with top players nowadays.

I think Reina for the same reason. I suspect he's incredibly important to team morale as well.

And Alonso for the same reason too

Iniesta is the flavour of the month for me

but in our squad it's dirky dirky for me

I love them all!!

Seriously.. There's a lot to admire with our lot.

Never in a million years you could see any of our players reacting the way chelsea did tonight

if I had to choose a few than they would be Pepe, Itandje, Arbeloa, Sami, Kuyt, Lucas, Masch, Xabi and Torres

Gerrard has also matured into a great captain for the team

from the reserves I like Spearing and Pacheco

I really like El-Zhar for some reason. I was inexplicably made-up when he scored that goal for Morocco.

I've got mad love for Xabi Alonso, I once met someone who had met him and I was awestruck at that.

It is easier if I listed who I dislike as I love all the others really:

Reira: just can't bond with him and strikes me as being their for the money only! With the other foreign imports, I believe they have bought in the club values, culture and tradition, but may be too early to judge him and I am being a bit harsh

Babel: simply because of his application on the pitch. Seems to get worse and more distant and almost has sights now on a summer move

If I had to chose favorites:

1. Mach

2. Pepe

3. Torres

4. Dirk

like all of them who kept running and chasing and closing the ball. They made me proud to have them in our shirt....Hard to find lazy players in our team and that itself is a blessing.

Arby

Dirky

Maschy

Torres

Reina

Pepe. Just love his strong psyche.

Dirk. The hardest working man in the game, and scores those vital goals.

Xabi. Very classy player, and impertous (sp) to pain(?)

Lucas. Really hoped he would develop to a top class player, but that wouldn't happen. Been close to scoring more goals. Hopefully he will bang in a few now that he has scored in the league.

Arbeloa. As mentioned further up in this topic, because his goal celebrations is fantastic.

My mate met Xabi in Liverpool a few weeks back. Out walking his kid!

Mate loves Xabi so he nearly collapsed!

I genuinely don't think we have any hateful players. I know a couple of mancs who hate Stevie and Carra, but not sure why. Well, Carra is a bit loud and times so maybe other fans think he's whiney, but Gerrard I don't get.

The girl I met had known him fairly well when he was at Sociedad, I was blown away (metaphorically only unfortunately).

Mancs hate Gerrard because he's 'Mr. Liverpool', I wouldn't trust a manc that didn't hate him.

Aye probably. It's been said they think of him and Carra the way we think of Neville.

The very thought that they try to compare them to that weasle-faced t*** puts me off my lunch

I genuinely love nearly all of our players. I think they are boss. Which makes the whole 'spending a fortune following multi-millionaires' a heck of alot easier. Xabi is probably my favourite. I reckon i would collapse if i met him. But i'd love a pint with all of them

I think this is why i went so overboard with my hatred of Keane. He just seemed so anti everything i loved about our squad. That and the fact he was useless

I reckon I'd be great mates with Alonso, if he'd lift the restraining order

I'd like to go out for tapas with Torres and Arbeloa

I'd have a great night drinking mild with didi hamann too.
