Any Car Mechanics about?

My car takes a few goes to start in the mornings, then its fine for the rest of the day, its not the battery as I got that changed a few weeks back. Any obvious things I should check before paying a garage to have a look at it?

 

(please remember you are talking to someone who knows how to drive and change a tyre and thats about it!)
