R A Softlad Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 That always bothered me. "Rush scored one, Rush scored two, Rush scored three and Rush scored four, and Lawrenson got the other...." [mumbles on Kop]
L19red Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 remember it well. My dad worked away at sea and he got home the morning of that match. When the fifth goal went in I ran upstairs to tell him, only to find that it wasnt just Ian Rush who had scored that afternoon.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) useless f***** Rush hit the bar as well when it was easier to score - EDIT - that was from memory, it wasn't easier to score....maybe he had a time machine & knew he'd f*** the song u if he got a 5th Edited April 25, 2009 by Macca

_00_deathscar Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Interesting to note how quickly we've turned defence into attack in each of those games. Helps that Everton's defensive line were basically in our half...
pipnasty Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Either Lawrenson or Hansen always seemed to be pretty far forward when we were attacking. We just played right through the middle of Everton. And Sammy Lee's pass for the 5th was sublime. I went with my dad and my uncle who were both Blues and we sat in the Upper Bullens. A cracking day.
uppsala Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I was at the game in the paddock,it was great when the 5th went in, all the blue sh*te zipping thear coats up to hide the blue scarfs. And leaving 10min from the end oh what a great day,and after the game all the blues went straight home, only spoted one or two in the pub class!

smithdown Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) Was the paddock the one along the bullens side? Can't remember which was which now - that and the Enclosure. Anyway, was on the terrace on the bullens side by the park end, a divvy 12 year old in the middle of a load of kick off, punches getting thrown all round me, hung on the fence like other divvy 12 year olds to get out the way of it and the bizzies rattled their truncheons across our knuckles til we got down. Jumped down and then got hit square on the forehead by a flying 50p piece and stood dazed for a bit. A couple of fellas stopped hitting each other to see I was alright. But I was directly behind Rushie when he got his hat-trick, and him and Kenny ran to our corner so it was happy f*ckin days. Edited April 25, 2009 by smithdown
Chewie Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 just watched that again (once) and one of the things I noticed was how the team spent less time showboating to the crowd when they scored and simply celebrated with each other... it was as if they were winning for their mates and not the cameras... cue another body language thread.... but it just seemed more real. they didn't need to prove to the fans how much the fans meant to them...blah, blah, kissing shirts and all that... anyway - glorious to watch and Hansen for the first...sublime Chewie
Bootser Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Sweet to watch. Just the ticket after today's roller coaster.
Nebraska Red Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I remember that like it was yesterday. We were in the Gwladys Street (you could do that in those days) with my wife to be. A great afternoon and an evening that lasted well into Sunday Morning.
