Flight Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 If you have a weak heart stay away. Get some money on 1-3 and a win for us on penalties.
Siang Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 do the mother of all impossibles. . . just do them at their ground and send fear across Europe. . .
Chili Palmer Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 the guy on sky said we need two goals to force extra time, thats wrong isn't it?

Jarg Armani Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 i've heard so much erroneous coverage of the potential outcomes tonight. they're all saying 'if chelsea score then it's all over'. What? I'd say the pressure is off us in a big way here, Chelsea conceding 3 on Saturday won't help their confidence either. Hyypia should play, he scores in quarter finals and attacks the ball at both ends in a way none of our other centre halfs do. I'd consider a 3 of him Agger and Carra. Us to take it to extra time and win it 4-2. or lose 3-2. or something else. Unchartered waters for Rafa's Liverpool anyway, that in itself will make interesting viewing.
fred milne Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Assuming Gerrard is fit to start then I reckon there are only 2 places up for grabs tonight: Carra's CB partner and who plays at LM. I'd like to see Agger get the nod in defence and throw caution to the wind and take a chance on Babel on the left. Riera got no change out of Ivanovic in the first leg and Babel has produced against top teams in the past - if nothing else his presence on the field, with the threat of his pace and strength on the counter, may mean Torres and Gerrard get more time and space on the ball.

Personally, I'd drop Kuyt and play Benayoun, when we're chasing games and in need of attacking flair I honestly don't see the point in playing Dirk. Benayoun has the touch and technique that Kuyt can only dream of but I suppose being realistic there's little chance of Kuyt being dropped.

Riera was pretty good on Saturday. I'd go with Agger over Skrtel in this one as well. But I suspect Rafa won't
Guy_Incognito Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I'm really fecking looking forward to this one now! From a position of expecting to go out, it's gonna be difficult for any outcome to depress me. Essentially, I can only be chuffed or feel as I expected I would.

I think Babel will play and Benayoun as well. Rafa has to combat the man-marking of Gerrard which left Torres isolated and I reckon he will adopt a fluid system with the forward players inter-changing positions to drag their markers out wide leaving space for others to exploit. I hope Rafa starts with Agger but it was worrying to see him going down with cramp on Saturday and he may not have had time to recover

madaboutlfc Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 if we got the goal in first 5-10 minutes you never know.. chelsea let in 3 in the last match and form is not a tap which you can turn on or off.. I would love to continue our european expedition

Get the Doss in there then - it's actually not that unlikely that that will happen given how much Aurelio stunk last week. I think that Aurelio is more likely, and then it could be Yossi/Babel/Riera on the left Might actually end up being Yossi
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 3-5-2 Agger to start. He's got form with Chelsea, goals and ECSF's
Philby Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Any pub near the ground in mind for pre-match boozing?
Barnesy_10 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 quite looking forward to this... I like the hint of 'it aint over yet' by the media and supporters as they know if anyone can overturn this it is us.
honourablegeorge Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I worry about risking Gerrard for this. He'll go all out to win it, and could injure himself in the process.
Rex Ham Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Aye, Gerrard on the bench for me. If Essien's in the same mood as he was in last week, he'll need to put some serious work in to get any breathing space.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 unless it completely snaps, if he feels a twinge, he'll come off. Then it's 7 days to the next game

All he will have read and heard for the last 6 days is how Essien had him in his pocket in the first leg. If he's fit, then I reckon he'll give Essien a much tougher game. Whether it will be enough to overturn the deficit is another issue.
