Stevie H Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 f*** me, i knew it was good at the time but just seen it again and well, f*** me. canal plus commentator just went 'ce joueur, il est enorme'. not many players in football can score a goal like that, what a thing of beauty.
johngibo YPC Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Who else will admit to thinking 'don't shoot' as he shot and then feeling abit silly
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 My first reaction was a shout of 'f*** ME!'. Watching it now, it's now a more subdued 'f*** me' but it's a 'f*** me' nonetheless.
Magic8Ball Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I keep saying it, Torres is as good as Van Basten ... and that's saying something in my book. He was my all time favorite striker
Stevie H Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 van basten's dead right in the 'what the f*** you're not going to score from there' stakes. ludicrous goal. f*** me.
Snookie Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 He's unique. Like all great players - Maradona, Zidane and Van Basten for example- he seems to be playing a different game to other players. He makes the exceptional seem simple.
Zoob Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Maldini said: Bit of the van Basten about itThought the same. What ever way you look at it, it was a fantastic goal, but I'm sure some keepers would have saved it. Fatty boy Robinson can barely get a foot in the air before gravity takes over and starts pulling him down again.
Swagger Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Then he goes and misses a sitter after Mascherano's effort. Sell him.
Billy Dane Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 As he scored that an absolutely gorgeous brunette walked up the steps on the Kop. Not sure which was better for a minute........ obviously I came to my senses.

Landed at Heathrow this morming, went to bed, woke the eldest up after a couple of hours, went into my office, then a knock on the door. 'Dad the clocks went back and we've not changed them, the games on and we're 1-0 up'!!! I watched for a good 20 minutes before they showed the goal. I shouted at the telly. literally, FFS, ridiculous absolutely ridiculously brilliant. It gets better every time I watch it. We have Gerrard and Torres both on the same pitch at the same time in our history, it's like Gullit and Van Basten Mk2.

stonty Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Absolutely stunning strike. Redknapp on Sky was saying it wasn't true volley as he let it bounce before he hit it!!!! The stupid pansy voiced ponce.
carrafan Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Goal of the season, that. Takes some technique and a lot more ability to pull that off.
charlie clown Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I said to my son after it went in - no other striker in the premiership could have scored that - it was outrageous, it had no right to be in the back of the net.
Paul Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Great strike, he didn't even look up to see where the goal was, just controlled it with his chest and bang. What's great about him is that he can score all types of goals, very hard to defend against. He's an absolute gem, we're very lucky to have him.

Red Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Mike.. either you're Messi in disguise or you didn't think much of the strike? Surely has to be a serious addition to anyone's youtube compilation, that one.
urban Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 That Torres goal reminds me of Fowler (who is still my favourite striker). But my Fowler memory may soon be eroded by this fella.

Leo No.8 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Stunning, world class goal. Perfect technique and athleticism. Loved the look to the heavens and fingers pointed to the sky afterwards as well, saying 'that one was for you' to the 96.
