Fat Sam

Sam Allardyce has renewed hostilities with Rafael Benítez ahead of Blackburn Rovers' visit to Anfield tomorrow by accusing the Liverpool manager of being obsessed with "whingeing and moaning", although the Spaniard has good reason to do so after Steven Gerrard was last night diagnosed with a strained adductor in his groin.

Gerrard is doubtful for the game with Rovers after a scan identified the cause of his withdrawal against Fulham, and discomfort during Wednesday's Champions League defeat to Chelsea, as a small strain to an adductor muscle. The player and the club's medical staff will meet this morning to decide whether to risk the midfielder with next Tuesday's return at Stamford Bridge in mind.

Gerrard's absence there would be a major setback for a manager who came in for severe criticism from his Blackburn counterpart yesterday. Enmity has existed between Allardyce and Benítez since Bolton inflicted the first Premier League defeat on the Liverpool manager in August 2004, prompting the beginning of Benítez's criticism of his tactics.

"You can't stop him whingeing and moaning, he loves it," said Allardyce, who may employ his 6ft 5in defender, Chris Samba, at centre-forward against Liverpool tomorrow lunchtime. "Liverpool played exactly the same way when they had Peter Crouch and he plays that way when it suits him. It's great when a manager moans about me and my teams. If I can beat Liverpool, Chelsea or Manchester United home and away then I'm a major tactician and a very good manager. You must be to beat a £200m or £300m team with a side that cost £25m."

The Blackburn manager also believes Benítez has made a mistake by making a verbal attack on Sir Alex Ferguson. "He'd be foolish taking Sir Alex on. Sir Alex knows every trick in the book," said Allardyce. "He [benítez] produces results and high-level performances for Liverpool whether you like his style or not. Managers are very transparent and we can't help moaning and groaning. I'm the same. I've managed to psyche a few managers out in the past but no one has ever psyched me out because I don't give a damn what people say."

Blackburn will be without the injured Roque Santa Cruz and Jason Roberts at Anfield, with the latter a major doubt for the remainder of Rovers' fight for Premier League survival. "Jason has a small hairline crack in a metatarsal," said Allardyce. "He could be out for three to four weeks, or six to eight, but that can't be determined until he's had a second scan in a few weeks' time."

Sometimes you forget how much of a self-satisfied, utterly deluded c*** that man is and then you see his old man's scrotal faced features or he opens his mouth and everything becomes clear again.

Somebody remind this idiot that he's saying this in the middle of a statement slagging Rafa.

people who say they speak as they find and are somehow proud of it. allardyce is a HMHB lyric.

Yeah, innit. 'I speak as I find' only ever comes out of the gobs who have found little, and should speak less. It's as though that sh*tty statement is an end in itself, and justifies all bile that may have precluded it, or ensue.

Rafa's a moaning and whingeing get.....oh by the way its not fair he can spend 200m to my 25m.

Errr...........

Stupid fat c***.

(ps Sam, its because someone trusts him to spend that much, just like you. oh hang on)

Allardyce is an absolute c***, seemingly convinced that he is not given a chance at a 'big club' because of the foreign managers knocking about. He is a limited sack of s***, who only knows one way of playing. At Newcastle, he bought one first team player with the millions he spent and had them sinking like a stone after a decent opening. We embarrassed them up there last year - I can only hope we absolutely hammer the clueless g*******'s team tomorrow and they end up going down. A horrible club, and this guy is a c*** with arrogance that is staggeringly misplaced.

his response to not getting the england job and his 'allardicio' comments exposed him as the tiny-minded little englander that he is. he's a throwback who thinks that an earpiece which makes him look like he's hawking miracle mops in a shopping mall somehow makes him a better manager than these johnny-come-lately foreigners.

Biggest league match of my life declares Carragher

Apr 10 2009 by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

JAMIE CARRAGHER has billed tomorrow's Anfield showdown with Blackburn as “the biggest league game of my career”.

But boss Rafa Benitez will have to decide whether or not to gamble on Steven Gerrard’s fitness for a match which could take the Reds back on top of the table – at least until Manchester United meet Sunderland at the Stadium of Light later in the day.

Carragher is in no doubt about the enormity of the occasion.

“I’m not just saying this because of what happened against Chelsea the other night but the league has always been the priority for everyone at the club,” said the Reds defender.

“In the 13 years I have been involved in the first team this will be the biggest league game I’ve played in – it really is that important.

“If we win we can go top of the league with just six games to go and if someone would have told us that we would be in this position when the season started we would have all been delighted.

“This is a massive chance for everyone at the club and I’m sure the fans will create a great atmosphere because they know what is at stake.”

Chelsea’s victory in the Champions League on Wednesday was the first time the Reds have been beaten by a fellow member of the big four this season.

Carragher added: “Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say that the other team played well on the night and this was one of those occasions.

“But it’s important to remember that we’ve now played them and Man United five times this season and we’ve won four of those games.

“That’s a record we can be proud of even though we are obviously disappointed about what happened the other night.

“We’ve played more than 40 games in the Premier League and the Champions League – the two biggest competitions – and we’ve only lost three times and one of the most important things is that when we have lost we’ve tended to respond in the right way by going on good runs.

“That’s what we’ll be looking to do again and no-one should be too downhearted about what happened against Chelsea because they are a good side who did well on the night and we’ve still got a hell of a lot to play for.

“The incentive is there for us to go back on top of the league and it may only be for a few hours until United play but you never know it could even be for longer than that.

“That’s how big this game is and that’s why I honestly believe it’s the biggest we’ve had in the league since I’ve been at the club and maybe for even longer than that.”

Skipper Gerrard's involvement is in doubt, however, after a scan yesterday revealed a minor groin strain. Though the injury is not considered serious it will need to be managed to ensure it does not become a bigger problem.

Should Gerrard be pitched in against Blackburn then it would be something of a calculated gamble by the Liverpool manager.

Benitez was set to discuss the situation with his captain and Liverpool’s medical staff today.

As othjers have said, the only reason to want them to stay up is that it is a good away day.

Beyond that, they can f*** right off.

I'd settle for them staying up by the skin of their teeth and Allardyce getting sacked.

Thats the spirit, lets smash the f*** out of this vile club.

"I'm a major tactician and a very good manager."

And a connisewer of the arts as well:

Sam Allardyce once thought he would never get the England job because he did not have a fancy-sounding surname. He thought he was too northern, too unfashionable, too egg and chips. He drank ale and he chewed gum, sometimes at the same time. "Maybe I should change my name to Allardici," he suggested.

A short while ago he decided it was time to get a hobby, something to take his mind off the strains of football. "I started going to art galleries and I spoke to art dealers. I wanted something totally different to football and art interested me. The only problem is that art needs so much work and research if you are going to do it properly. It's not something you can just dabble in.

He's a bit of a Gwyneth really innee?

I've often wondered why a great manager like Sam hasn't had a queue of foreign clubs beating a path to his door. I was also shocked when he was sacked by Newcastle that he wasn't quickly snapped up by another PL club. It's almost as if they can't recognise his immense talent. :notrelatedtoanyforummember2:

Thats a remarkable piece from Allardyce, but these are my favourites;

- I psyche managers out but they dont pysche me out.

- I'm a great tactician but I play center halves as center forwards.

- Implies managers complain about his team because he is a top-4-team-slayer.

He gets too much of a free ride from the media.
