Got to give credit, where credit is due. Chelsea deserved their victory tonight, they passed the ball better and look far more comfortable in possession. They were more hungry and won the battle in midfield, too many of our players were off their game and at this level you can't afford that.

The defeat was partially our own downfall by conceding two sloppy goals from corners, poorly defended and quite surprising actually considering we've not conceded from a set play since the Pompey game? Thought we remedied that problem but it looks like Hiddink found a weakness in our set-up.

I don't want to openly criticise any player tonight because we have turned our season around recently but Aurelio had a nightmare, two sloppy passes (reminded me of Man City away) set the tone for our defence tonight. Lucas did ok but he's no Mascherano. Riera never got into the game and it seemed he was really going through the motions. That left hand side needs to be sorted for the game against Blackburn.

Kuyt had a good game I felt, work hard, showed some nice touches  and good link up play. No one else deserves credit really. I think the tie personally is over, yes people will say Istanbul etc, but to score three at the Bridge without reply to progress is going to be a very tough task.

Part of the way through the 2nd half there seemed an air of resignation from both players and supporters alike on the Champions League. Are we as a club now geeing ourselves up for a full assault on the League? I hope so, Blackburn now at the weekend is HUGE, no win and our season could be over. Champions League is nice but I'm so crying out for that League Title.

Chins up everyone, much bigger game coming up at the weekend and with Mascherano back we should be putting out our strongest eleven.

Chelsea were simply magnificent. We'd have to score 3 or more at Stamford Bridge to have a chance, sounds like a tall order...

Top performance from them. We really didn't help ourselves though. They looked like they were going to score every time they got the ball - we reverted to Fulham at home territory with the ball and were all over the shop without it. We won't play that poorly again with a full strength side for many a year.

Well done indeed, they were excellent and deserved the result.

I hope Hiddink doesn't stay after the summer cause that's the first time I've seen Rafa mastered tactically. Fair enough most managers don't have Essien to man mark Gerrard but still his tactics were perfect.

to be fair to them, they`re not as w***y, and spiteful since mourinho left, ive even warmed to Lampard, he tried to rob a few yards only for our fans to scream at him, he luaghed, acknowledged, and put the ball back

they wher ebetter than us, plain and simple, sure, we missed Mascherano, but credit whete credit is due,

we just need to lick our wou8nds, and take our licks, put it out of our head, and play like this game never happened

saturday is another game, and we just need to think about that

congrats Chelsea

Nothing to argue with this post.

You must have missed him playing in all those wins and doing well then Coyler.

He had a few wobbles at old Trafford and for his national side he was dreadful. Not sure if he doesn't need a rest whilst Agger plays his way back into Rafa's good books.

Nah, there's been a good few dicey moments with him the last couple of games as well, of which not much obviously came. "Dicey" rather than "s****", maybe.

Skrtel was poor, but so were Xabi and Riera. I'm sure a few folk will put Xabi in their top 3 for his passing, but defensively he was woeful. This sort of game is a perfect example of where Gareth Barry would be a better choice than him.

I'm not anti - Xabi, I think he is a fabulous player, but I've repeatedly said he has problems defending in and around the box.

we were poor and got our arses well kicked tonight. they were very good.

That's about the size of it.

I think I'm a bit bemused at the moment really. No idea if anger and annoyance will come later.

f*** Chelsea, vile club, vile supporters.

Absolutely but the c***s deserved their victory tonight. The only major negative I can see from tonight's result for Saturday's game is Allardyce will no doubt be chuffed about us conceding from set pieces. He'll be chomping at the bit, since his teams play their whole game around set pieces, kicking the ball long into the corners of the pitch trying to win free kicks and corner kicks.

That'll be a massive test of our character at the back to see if we get that sorted. Think Allardyce will try to man mark Gerrard like Essien did tonight, to try and cut off one of our major supply lines?

Practice that there defending from set pieces cos big sam will be all over that.

Big Sam can f*** off too

They can all f*** off tonight
