I have heard that Rafa is going to leave the club almost cetainly as the next contract offer is not expected to be good enough.

Enjoy your last week and a bit with him in charge. It's all downhill for us after this.

I've heard that aliens are planning to attack the Earth, killing every last one of us.

You may laugh at me but I'll be the one laughing when it happens.

There's a piece in the Daily Telegraph today about the search for Rick Parry's sucessor that also is negative about Rafa & his contract.........

"the most destabilising influence at Anfield is Rafael Benitez and his failure to sign a new contract. The owners have met all his demands and the contract has been redrafted at least eight times, but still he refuses to sign.

With every day that passes the suspicion grows that the Spaniard is stalling in anticipation of an offer from Real Madrid, and will use the uncertainty over Liverpool's future ownership as an excuse should he decide to walk."

I struggle with the idea that Real Madrid is the alternative if its a question of control over footballing matters.

isn't it more likely the ownership which is the issue?

If Rafa gets what he wants and signs the contract he is in a much stronger position if and when the new owners come. If the new owners come in and don't want him they can sack him and he's minted, if he doesn't like them he can resign.

am I reading the situation wrong?

Seriously, there's no source on earth who would know all this even if it was true.

This person would have to be both close to Hicks and Gillett to know what the contract contains, and close to Rafa to know he's going to resign. Do you think Rafa would go round telling people anyway? Maybe put it on his facebook site or something.

Personally I'd give a little more thought to what you post, because if you're not right with something like this you'll get ripped into for spoiling people's mood on the back on two great wins.

He'll sign eventually, even if they still don't get it right this time. Where else is he going to find a 'long term project' as he described the other day. Certainly not at Madrid.

Mr Makagullible.

f*** knows really. nobody actually knows anything about the ins and outs of this contract malarkey, including the press, so it's all mindless speculation.

Who gives a s*** to be honest. If Rafa goes Liverpool are f***ed, football is f***ed. There isn't a better match than us and him and if that isn't enough to keep him here then my time with football is done.
