What a game, lad! He's aging like fine wine, is Sami.

Does his contract run out at the end of the year?

Yeah, I think he got a 1 year one last summer, I'd do the same again.

The man is a legend.

Thought he was f***ing boss

We looked well better on set pieces as well

He had a fantastic game - ruled our box aerially and was composed on the deck

What a player.

There were atleast a couple of times when the ball was passed dangerously on the ground just outside our box and he came out and took the ball every time, like nothing actually happened. His positioning is brilliant.

He should have had so much more credit for his time at Liverpool. I just hope he gets the credit he deserves when he retires and I pray that he ends his career at Liverpool as it should be with players like him.

Just before the kick off, I was listening to the radio and heard of the change. Never really bothered me. I just knew the LEGEND would come in and do a superb job despite the commentators describing it as a tragic change for Liverpol

True Class.

Sami Hyypia would have to be dead before I'd consider letting him leave Liverpool.

he'd still do a job i reckon

Sami was in deep conversation with Pellegrino on the bench throughout the Sunderland game, giving it all the hand actions talking about how the defence was lining up and doing its job. It got quite heated at one point where they obviously disagreed about some finer point of the game. I wonder if he already has some input into the coaching side.

third favourite current player behind Torres and Alonso. Had an awesome game. When/If he retires we need to get him into some kind of training role. He knows what we are all about.

just give him a contract for as many years as he wants, the last thing he wants is probably leaving liverpool. he hasnt lost anything from his game since he came to us. hes only getting better and he can teach our young ones quite a lot i assume.

These days of flash bling c**** who think they're above everything on and off the pitch only further serve to reminds us what a gem, a legend, and a man we have had this past decade.

One of the best defenders I have seen and one that in years to come I will take pleasure in telling my grandkids I was lucky enough to see play.

Did anyone see the superb touch to take down the 45 yard lump upfield with Rooney (I think) looming behind him in the first half? Even Dowie the c*** said "that was some Brazilian-like skill from Hyypia"...

Sublime...

Hes a legend and was superb today. Looked very comfortable against a pacey and very expensive strike force. Great to still have him here.

Their corners were far less nervy affairs with the big man playing. Shame on me for worrying about Ronaldo skinning him, he was excellent.

Definitely - we invariably struggle with set pieces against them. It was reassuring knowing that we had the most dominant aerial presence on the pitch.

Easily our best defender since Jocky hung up his boots.
