madaboutlfc Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 comeon son more of this type of performance and you could live up to your potential.. did not moan once and was refreshing to see our winger constantly skinning the full back..
Tones Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 2nd half he was great. Used his pace well and looked hungry.
downunder Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 comeon son more of this type of performance and you could live up to your potential.. did not moan once and was refreshing to see our winger constantly skinning the full back.. I think it helped he didn't come on with being told he has 2/5/10 mins to help us win a game (which happens too often), there was less pressure on him and he was relaxed and did well.
lfc003 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 (edited) Babel is one of our players im always willing to do well, He could have should a great future with us. Thought he was ok but on the edge of the game in the first half but his role in the third goal gave him a massive confidence boost and he really impressed afterwards. Edited March 10, 2009 by lfc003

Murillo Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 he is always very good when we are given space to counter-attack
Gerrardrules Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 He did what he had to do. Not sulking around with the ball, but trying to get past his opponent or pass the ball to a teammate immediately. He was very good tonight and made a very good point to Benitez. But he has to show the same determination next match he plays whoever it may be.
growler Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 based on our squad, that is almost our first choice 11. Add beni, Insua, Agger, Reira to the bench and its not too bad.
New York Red Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 He ran his b*llocks off. He did well tonight. Good job son.
Stevie H Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 his best game for us that i think. helped that they were generally slow as f*** mind.
CaptainXabi Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 his best game for us that i think. helped that they were generally slow as f*** mind.Except that he was up against Ramos, who is quite quick, and completely left him for dead 3 or 4 times.
Stevie H Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Except that he was up against Ramos, who is quite quick, and completely left him for dead 3 or 4 times.should be doing really, babel's sprinter-quick. was good to see attitude from him in being prepared to have a real run at his man. hopefully he can carry that into saturday.
Guest PaulMcC Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I thought he was s*** first half and made loads of wrong decisions. He wouldn't go for any 50-50 ball or header. When he was given loads of space 2nd half he done well.

Igors Uncle Dave Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Babel is a confidence player, someone who needs an arm around his shoulder and given a cuddle, he wont be getting that with Rafa I'm afraid. I think he must have had a word with his favourite cuddly toy at half time because he certainly started to show the kind of form and excitement he initially promissed. He needs to build on this with a performance against the mancs. We desperately need players of his ilk who can go forward and create.

Mind you that Ramos kid isn't exactly a poor defender
_00_deathscar Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Really? I think Ramos is a dreadful defender. He used to have this aura about him going forward as well, but apart from one cross which Raul fluffed, I haven't seen any evidence of it over two legs. Don't know what happened to him, but he's become a bit s***.

We simply can't afford to not persist with him. He is a real talent, and if we can unlock it we will have one of Europe's top wide players on our hands.

Behind Enemy Lines Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 but he wants to be a striker !!!! also wide player ? - you mean wide attacker in 433/4231 style and also which side left or right ?Does it matter? - we have possibilities no?
Earl Hafler Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Was also good to see players supporting Babel and not just standing still 30 yards away.
D.Boon Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 if we can unlock it we will have one of Europe's top wide players on our hands. That is one hell of a stretch after a reasonable 90 minutes
fred milne Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 but he wants to be a striker !!!! also wide player ? - you mean wide attacker in 433/4231 style and also which side left or right ?Left-side I think. It was encouraging last night to see him go for the by-line and use his left rather than always cut inside onto his right. It makes him a bit less predictable. I'd like to see him start on Saturday instead of Riera - give their RB something to think about. In fact, we should play the same XI as last night.
