laptop battery

my laptops battery died last weekend and was not holding charge at all.. a mate suggested to put it in deep freezer for day at below -24C wrapped in a plastic foil.. the bloody trick seems to work and the battery is holding charge for almost 1 and half hour which is still not optimal but saves me spending on a battery for a little bit longer
