allawee Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Now the euphoria of the CL is over, it is back to the bread and butter stuff on Saturday. I still believe the PL is more than a possibility and a realistic dream. The team that face a resurgent Boro on Saturday must be strong, focused and sure of getting the 3 points on a ground where over the years we have struggled to win. I would like to see the same team that played in Madrid, with no changes except for Babel coming for Torres if he is out. Another must win game and anything else is not an option.
badtodabone Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 its been a while since we took 3 points at Middlesbrough(2001 i think) one of the games i always hate i think its come around at a really bad timme for us this season
Mr Makaveli Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 This is absolutely the best possible time to plat them. When nothing but a win will do.
Hassony Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 they haven't won in the league for 14 games I think, we really need to go at them Attack Attack Attack
IcelandicFan Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I have a feeling they will come out fighting for this. They always seem to up their game against us somehow... I´m predicting yet another draw here.
Molby Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Here's how to do it, although I'd love to see Pacheco in from the start he seems to play the same way as Babel does/is supposed to i.e. just behind the top striker and with loads of movement between the lines - tailor made to play with Kuyt ---------Reina-------- ----Carra ---- Agger if fit----Skrtel ---Arby----Xabi-----Gerrard---Aurelio --------------Yossi---------------- -------------Kuyt---------Babel-------- subs: Masch, Ngog, Hyppia, Cavalieiri, PACHECO
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Couldnt be more negative for this game - Boro always seem to step up their game at the Riverside for the top 4 and with no Torres and our paucity in coherent attacking play in recent weeks ................. Bloody players need to step up to the plate !

Hector McDougal Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 No arbeloa, as mentioned in another thread.
Sion Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Hate us playing at that ground. 90 minutes of 'in you liverpool slums' from people who inhabit one of the biggest s***holes on Earth. I'd rather live in a Mumbai slum than Middlesborough* *that may be a slight over-reaction

beejay Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Tough game but we have to go for the jugular, 3 points an absolute must so Stevie must start as Torres is out. They don't have a totem pole up front so Agger instead of Hyypia with Carra right back. I don't see that we have much choice but Kuyt up front, Stevie behind with Beny & Riera in the wide positions. If you haven't already heard the referee is....... Rob f***in Styles
stressederic Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I'm getting really sick of drawing up at their ground. Can we just t*** them and be done with it.
Rex Ham Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Nailed on draw this and any lingering hope of getting anywhere near catching them Mancs gone..
Des Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Nah, we'll win tomorrow but it'll make no difference to where the title goes.
Chili Palmer Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I'm getting really sick of drawing up at their ground. Can we just t*** them and be done with it. we are going to get an early goal tomorrow, I can feel it in my bones.
Molby Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 can El Zahr play a wing back role if we went for the three at the back? he looks like he could do it quite well although Downing might test him if he plays on the left I just don't want to see Carra at right back - not when we are without Torres and need 3 points
stressederic Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I may get slated for this but, if we were thinking of going wing-backs, could Lucas do a job there?
Sion Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I may get slated for this but, if we were thinking of going wing-backs, could Lucas do a job there? he can't even do a job in his 'best' position! his tackling is crap as well, as i guess so is his crossing.shame on you
carrafan Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 can El Zahr play a wing back role if we went for the three at the back? Wingbacks need to have some sort of defensive pedigree along with the attacking qualities to go with that. One rarely sees a 352 with the wide players in the 5 not being defenders because otherwise they'll just get murdered in the wide areas. And since we dont have this sort of a wingback for our right i see no chance of a 352 happening. ReinaCarra Skrtel Hyypia AurelioAlonso MaschYossi Gerrard RieraKuyt A first half goal for us in the game would be nice for a change.
carrafan Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 he can't even do a job in his 'best' position! his tackling is crap as well, as i guess so is his crossing.shame on you The worst thing is that i doubt he has the engine for the position to go up and down the pitch that many times.
Mr Makaveli Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 we are going to beat boro easily tomorrow.
