Raj Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 don't think we'd go within a million miles of him Wrong mentality to play for Liverpool and Rafa
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Kinhell lads, we've just had the news that it's incredibly likely we're about to get £30-35m to add to our warchest, £40m if you include Arbeloa going and we're talking up Huddlestone and Jenas you call yourselves internet forum posters?
Chili Palmer Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 So would I but at the moment he's third. yeah, we need either another 2 center mids (one if Xabi stays) or a link man and drop Stevie back. I hope Rafa goes for the first option, moving Gerrard again would be the mistake of the summer if that happens.
magneto Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 The bulk of the Alonso money will probably go towards the Silva signing....

Chili Palmer Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 don't think we'd go within a million miles of him he looked a superstar when he first arrived at Arsenal, pity he suffers from Babelitus.
_00_deathscar Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 The market right now/this window is just plain stupid. Real (in the main part) & City have created a rod for their own backs. But we have been here before with United and Chelski in the past no? On the Xabi situation, personally I think that 35M (even if that's Euros) is an unbelievable price for him, and one that we are unlikely to ever get wind of again. Again personally, I think this is the apex of his value, and he wants to go (so we hear from the Echo now) so we have a small window of opportunity to get the best price. It's a shame, but it's also the game today, more of a business. It might be the highest price we could get for him, but if we don't replace him (effectively) IMMEDIATELY this summer, then we're paying a far higher price IMO. Opportunity cost and all that b******s.
Bailo Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I'm just about ready for us to sign anyone, as long as they have two feet.
Chili Palmer Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 We don't need another centre mid. Rafa will want 4, Xabi (maybe) Mash and Lucas.
sutty Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Rafa will want 4, Xabi (maybe) Mash and Lucas. Well he hasn't for the last 2 seasons.
Chili Palmer Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Well he hasn't for the last 2 seasons. he started last season with 4
Knox_Harrington Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 We don't need another centre mid.We don't need one, no. It'd be nice to get one if possible.
sutty Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 We don't need one, no. It'd be nice to get one if possible. Lowest of low priorities given the status quo If Alonso goes there's a discussion to be had.
Chili Palmer Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Who is the 4th? Stevie, Rafa said at the start of last season that by buying Keane he could play Stevie in the middle. (I actually think Stevie said it as well) that plan went t*** up when we realised that Keane was a lemon.
Billy Talbot Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Who is the 4th? Plessis. If Alonso goes, we'd have two options. To either try to replace him with someone who'll play more games than Lucas. Or promote Lucas, and sign someone to compete with him. If we go the second route, I'd expect us to sign 2 new CMs as Masch, Lucas, AN Other and Plessis isn't where we need to be.
