Igors Uncle Dave Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 How much are we likely to have available to spend in the summer?
Murphman Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 How much are we likely to have available to spend in the summer? Welcome back.
Bo Benn Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Somewhere in the range of last summer I guess. I think WHAT we spend on is more important. Our squad is big enough. We need player near Torres in terms of quality. Preferably another striker or wide midfielder.
Igors Uncle Dave Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Welcome back. Thanks mate - been a while
Molby Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 in net terms, the square root of f*** all, just like this year

Igors Uncle Dave Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 in net terms, the square root of f*** all, just like this year We did buy Keane, albiet briefly
dalennie Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 More wheeling and dealing i reckon and perhaps £15-20m on top of that.
Benitez Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) So someone like Villa would do niceley, what about an equally well known spaniard Silva? what makes you think he'd be a good fit here? Oh and ello Dave, not seen you for ages! Edited February 16, 2009 by Benitez
Walrus Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 in net terms, f*** all, just like this yearthe square root of 0 = 1
Bo Benn Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 So someone like Villa would do niceley, what about an equally well known spaniard Silva? Yes that'll do nicely thank you. Game changers like the ones you mentioned or Gerrard like
Molby Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 the square root of 0 = 1 what do you expect? we're f***ed in fact, if the yanks are still here then the last thing we want is to have money available as that would imply them having achieved stability luckily there's every chance this will change dramatically and we end up with £100m net

Archangel Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Like the rest of premiership football we seem to have got into a rut assuming the club can't develop without an endless supply of new faces. Perhaps who are we going to bring in is not so much the right question as how are we going to play. We are second with this squad and could and perhaps should still be top, which says all you need to know

Would make us a bloody good team I reckon. You're still making a lot of sense, but sometimes bringing someone in can make the world's difference in football. Regardless of systems and tactics.
Maldini Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I think we'll probably have nothing, or whatever we got in for Keane. We are f***ED. I just hope those rumours of us having to get short term loans to pay the wages are untrue.

Cam Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Anyone else think "Brilliant! An IUD post - his first in years; this'll be a lengthy, erudite post pinpointing exactly what is wrong with the club and how to right it... oh, it's a one-liner."? Welcome home, Unc. We're skint, can't afford to give contracts to 3 key players, lost £££m on Keane, probably have a lump of Torres to pay for, owners struggling for refinancing and perhaps Parry to pay off. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was an extra-ordinary summer... either positively or negatively; perhaps with us second only to Citeh in the spending stakes or losing Gerrard to Chelsea III.

Cam Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I suspect we'd get more money from G&H if we finished 2nd rather than 1st.
Rimbeux Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Like the rest of premiership football we seem to have got into a rut assuming the club can't develop without an endless supply of new faces. Perhaps who are we going to bring in is not so much the right question as how are we going to play. We are second with this squad and could and perhaps should still be top, which says all you need to know I think it's essential to change the squad and keep bringing in new and hungry players. Very few players can keep a level of consistency and achievement going for long periods at one club or even across their career. There will be something that stops a player being as effective as he once was, age, injury, tactics, motivation, whatever, there is a time to move on even top level players or it will decline.
SkippyjonJones Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 you reckon we should buy someone or just borrow them for 6 months like this season?
Stevie H Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) ideally we'll do what the mancs have done for years now, and what we used to do, which is bring in a couple of really top class additions to tweak an already good squad. however i don't see us having the money to do it no matter what we win this season. at the moment i'll be happy to see us not in administration in the summer. oh and good to see you back IUD.
