MFletcher Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 He was playing out of position, but was still one of the best players on the park and his delivery was superb throughout. Cracking goal as well. Top class performance from Fabio today.

allawee Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 If he stays fit, he is a real asset and top quality player. Very impressive today and quality from set play was really good and dangerous.
Nebraska Red Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 the new Riise when we need a left sided midfielder!!! aaaaghhh joking aside, he looked good in a new position and was very effective.
stressederic Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Based on the first half I saw he was always showing for the ball as well. Always willing to receive it into feet. When you've got a bit of an experimental formation pieced together, Aurelio did exactly what you'd want one of the older players to do. Really stepped up tonight and took responsibility.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 very good footballer is our Fabio Aye, the lad is a footballer. Its something I like. Riise was fast, had a hard shot, Dossena works very had with his bursts forward and back. Aurelio simply plays football. Takes a pass, gives a pass. Pass and Move. Liverpool might like that. We just need a decent physio
Jim D Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 (edited) Aurelio has always been a decent player once he has had a run in the team. He is technically gifted but very injury prone. If he can stay fit he'll be a valuable member of this side. Edited February 7, 2009 by Jim D
Maldini Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I thought he stepped into Alonso's shoes really well, played the same sort of role, kept the ball moving, very accuratge with his passes. Great display MOTM.
abc Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Passed and moved, got forward and into different areas of the pitch. Superb performance in my opinion.
Ste M Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 A return to his Valencia days when he played in central midfield a few times. He's a technically superb footballer.
Farmer's Tan Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 he's great but he'll be injured in the next few games and be out for a month, dont know why but thats what has been happening since he came here probably before it also.personally i thought benny was motm, involved in almost everything made a few great runs one of which should have been a goal, just a pity he didnt cap off his performance with one.
Coyler Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Watching the 90-minute replay on Setanta and he's just a lovely player there. That was no f***ing gamble by Benítez.
New York Red Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Absolutely great today. I'd play him in the middle a lot more frequently than Lucas.
allawee Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Watching the 90-minute replay on Setanta and he's just a lovely player there. That was no f***ing gamble by Benítez. As you say, it was no gamble and those who knew Aurelio before coming to Liverpool, would know that he played for Valencia in midfield few times and did very well. In many cases (no in all cases), the pundits don't do their homework right and mislead the watchers and listners. I bet if you asked Tim (idiot) Sherwood, or Craig (bitter) Burley, if they have any history on Aureilo playing in midfield for Valencia, they would not have a clue! Sorry, but I still fume when I remember the post match analysis!
Stevie H Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I thought he stepped into Alonso's shoes really well, played the same sort of role, kept the ball moving, very accuratge with his passes. Great display MOTM.yep, reminded me very much of a left-footed alonso in there. just kept the ball moving with no fuss, class performance.
Nebraska Red Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Absolutely great today. I'd play him in the middle a lot more frequently than Lucas. true, he has a 100% record for not giving away penalties when he plays in midfield.
Martian Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Fabulous Aurelio was MOM. Why doesent't he take all our corners and free kicks?
Swagger Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Absolutely great today. I'd play him in the middle a lot more frequently than Lucas. Agreed. With Alonso ruled out of the Man City game, I'd be tempted to start him alongside Mascherano instead of Lucas. (It'll never happen, though. Rafa loves his Lucas too much).
Magic8Ball Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Fabulous Aurelio was MOM. Why doesent't he take all our corners and free kicks?a left footed "CM" who can take free kicks, shades of the future ?
alias75 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 definitely should be on freekicks and corners. (unless its set up for a right footer)
Ronnie Whelan Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Having Ste take all our set pieces is something that always grates with me. Surely he would more effective attacking the ball form 18 yards, or even hanging there for a breaking ball? Beside, for all his world class attributes, corner taking is not one of them IMO.
Ben 23 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Didn't 99% of you want Riise to play instead of him not that long ago?
