The match reports are awful. Made it sound like a dire game where we only won because of a questionable decision by the ref, where in reality we bossed one of the best sides in Europe.

I've seen little mention of the Mancs 15 1-0's in the last 10 games. TBF - I have seen some mention, yet if you woke from a coma today, you'd not know that the mancs have been on thin ice - concede one goal and... - and you'd think we'd outbored Chelsea.

I thought it was a great game & we gave them a lesson

I do know what Macca means though. I like reading match reports, and although I shouldn't let them piss me off, it does annoy me when the person watching it obviously paid little or no attention to the match.

Well said. This is a top performance. Totally pegged them down.

Surprised to read one report that Benitez's substitutions were cautious, same as against the 10 of Arsenal.. Babel on for Mascherano cautious? For once we really went for them, and got our just desserts.

Felt I could listen to the Radio for once on the way home. First conversation (606) - Spoony talking about Robbie Keane with a Manc guest saying how badly he was getting treated after playing so well.. turned to Talk**te where it was about 'sympathy' for Chelsea, though tbf, none of the Chelsea callers wanted any sympathy, and said the best team won anyway - so the presenter raised a different subject - 'does this win just paper over the cracks at Liverpool?'. So it was radio silence the rest of the way home again.

Case in point from the Indy:

"Liverpool regained a grip on Manchester United’s coattails last night, though the key to their victory over Chelsea – the sending off of Frank Lampard - was a dubious one. "

Having a player sent off these days is an advantage to the other team of course, but teams surely train for playing with 10 men, as they are all going to experience it a few times a season, and is by no means a 'gimme', as Stoke - or more correctly City - proved yesterday. I think it makes winning harder for the team with 10 men, but scarcely impacts their defensive set-up, and even consolidates it.

i don't know how the bbc can justify an episode of 606 hosted by spoony in partnership with andy cole. andy cole! i had to switch it off after the first caller, an alleged liverpool fan, who said that he was fed up of rafa's negativity in home games. then he said that he'd listened to the match on the radio.

thebox.tv usually has a torrent soon enough after it's on.

As for the sending off, Chelsea actually played better after it. They had no shots on target before it.

watched it again after the Superbowl.

the missus is getting fed up of me bouncing on the couch doing the Torres song.

so what if the media disrespects us, we have the 3 points.

They are not, never have been and never will be "one of the best sides in Europe".

Have you been drinking?

That's the quietest match Reina's ever had. He must have been freezing.

They are really not a good side.

they're a shadow of Mourinho's hardworking team but the truth is we didn't let them play.. we dominated possession, moved the ball about well and didn't give them time to settle.. we wanted it far more than they did - the most urgency i saw from them was after we went one up.. they came for a draw but got what they deserved..

EDIT: btw, just to add - if anyone journo says that Lampard's sending off had anything to do with the result then they're just fooling themselves.. the c*** was anonymous before that and, if anything, they played better without him..

The person writing this article didnt notice thgat it was well after Lampard had been sent packing that they got their first attempt at our goal.... of course not....

Reports that Rafa was cautious in his substitutions just goes to prove how reactionary the press are... clueless and will generally say what the current mood is at the moment while not bothering to pay attention to the game.

We really did outplay them alright. Chelsea at times were defending for their lives with almost every player behind the ball. They came looking for a win but when they realised that they werent going to get it they parked the bus. Watch it again and see the hordes of players who swarm the centre of their box any time Gerrard or Torres get going.

Torres scored the 2 goals but you reallt got to hand it to Gerrard for his overall performance also. He was as hungry for 3 points as I've ever seen him. Benayoun also gave us a bit more of an edge when he came on.

I will admit that on the first viewing of the lampard tackle that I gpot very angry, started telling the Tv all about it.... but it wasnt a red, the slow motion for me shows that it was harsh.... but the funny thing is that I havent heard a whisper about how Bosingwa should have been sent off...??

does nobody remember seeing him just throwing his studds into Benayouns back in frustration out by the corner flag? where is his red card?

Well said.

It underlined the progress we've made under Rafa. We used to have to defend like mad against them and hope we nicked a goal. Today we bossed them.

Sky highlighted after the match, Scolari held his hands up to it in his post match interview, MOTD2 highlighted it and it's mentioned in every match report I've read. But apart from that, not a whisper, no.

Mourinho's teams were nasty and had a win at all costs mentality that would see them dive, intimidate and grind results out like the Mancs do now.

With effectively the same players but a more honest mentality (via their manager) they're suddenly quite toothless.

They're missing Essien something chronic to.

Laughed my a*** off at the Lampard decision, more so because it was Alonso he tackled fairly- Karma's a bitch.

Neutrals near me at the bar where whingeing that it was a borning game - mind you the're rugby fans first and foremost.

Why we should give the slightest fraction of a toss what anyone else thinks is less clear.
