pt101 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 ... how would you think Rafa would play him? The thought of us having two decent wingers is a great one but we don't play 4-4-2 etc. What do you think of him and, if we got him, how do you see us accommodating him? Cheers
Sion Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Rafa pretty much ruled out any Keane deal in his interview
MFletcher Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 "I think so" is hardly "absolutely, definitely".
DarthVader Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 This Lennon for Keane swap does not make sense to me.At the end Rafa will be getting rid of an average striker in return for an inconsistent right winger who may show glimpses of talent here and there but is probably no more effective than Pennant was for us.I don't think Benitez will do this. I think he will wait until the summer to see what Keane can produce.I think he will also try for Cazorla in the summer as our new right winger.
Buzz Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I think if we had signed Barry in the summer, then we would be playing similar to Villa this season with a 4-1-2-2-1 only the 2 behind the striker would be playing very close so that it could be seen as a 4-1-2-3, and here I could sense Keane in a Kuyt type role, the right of the three, but, Lennon could do a similar role in our currnet team and line up as Kuyt does now, but I don't think Keane could do it and I don't think Lennon would be any better than what we have now.
Falconhoof Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Spurs don't have any players i'd really want. Cash now or sell Keane in the summer.
allawee Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Also not sure if Lennon is an improvement on pennant! may be better off the field, but an average player on it...
Karl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I think lennons main asset is noting to do with crossing, but rather he is a really quick and direct runner with the ball. IS he good enough? I dont know, but he definitely a different option to pennant.
DarthVader Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I'm sure if Benitez had that extra money last July, David Villa would already be a Liverpool player by now but Valencia wanted 35. Then none of us would be talking about this Keane problem.Hopefully if we win something this season and if there's new investment there is still a possibility to try again for DV next summer.

alias75 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Playing him against the weaker teams that come to Anfield for a point gives us the option of playing Kuyt up there with Torres with Gerrard a more traditional central midfield. Think if we did get him his use would be against weaker teams rather than the top 4 where Kuyt usually does a pretty good job wide right.
