Once again another two points dropped, Wigan were there for the taking tonight, no excuses at all, none. Don't want to hear it from Rafa or anyone else inside the club.

First half was very good but the second was a calamity, it started when we constantly gave away the ball cheaply and then came along the "pre-determined" subs and then finally Lucas committing suicide in his own penalty area.

Wigan offered nothing, just like Everton the game before and we have GIFTED those teams a point and we've lost 4 precious points in the process.

When will we learn from our mistakes? When will Rafa realise that trying to shut up shop, just breeds negative thoughts in our players and gives impetus to the opposition?

Draws kill you in this League and they are killing us big style. One defeat all season in the League but it doesn't count for anything when you rack up a substantial amount of draws.

Look at this list, nine of them.....this is where our title challenge has been severely compromised if not torn to shreds:

Fulham

Stoke

West Ham

Everton

Stoke

Aston Villa

Arsenal

Wigan

Hull City

I'm angry, frustrated, annoyed and extremely p***ed off right now, the whole club on and off the pitch is committing some sort of suicide, we're blowing it.

where are we points wise compared to this time last year?

a few weeks back we were on the same as we were that time last year.... so now we are probably on similar..... Improvement dare I say it has been on away form.. home form has been shocking. Overall we haven't improved on last year at all regardless of what some might say.. The Mancs slipped up more than usual as did Chelsea... we had a spell at the top but looking at all those draws its incredible we spent so long at the top as we did.

Chelsea and Mancs are now kicking into their predictable stride and we are lagging behind. I see a similar outcome at the end of the season to what we are used to. Champions league place about 8-12 points off top.

Rafa needs to win a cup to be here next season.

The sad thing is even though we're negative and hesitant, the reason we're in this position could be Parry buying Keane and not Barry

Yet so far Parry's job seems safe.

Nothing new is it?

Whenever we go forward there's one man in the box at most. That's pathetic enough. Compare it with Man Utd when they have 4-5 in there.

The subs that are aimed at holding on for a 1-0 away at Wigan though take the piss.

The whole club right now is f***ed up, on and off the pitch.

1. We are not winning games

2. Agger's contract situation

3. Hicks/Gillet ownership

4. Rafa's contract and demands with 3.

5. Keane transfer

What a mess, results on the pitch are not masking the problems off it very well.

thats b******s, did Parry buy torres, Maschaerano, skrtel, Reina etc, and all the other success`s then? but as soon as Rafa f***s up, it was Parry that bought him

we`ve a negative manager, that instills s**** tactics, and thats why we`ll never win the league under him

this season, horribly reminds me of the season we won the coca cola cup against manure, when really, we`d have been better losing it, at least the mnager would have gotten the sack

id even give the job to sammy Lee until the end of the season, at least we wouldnt be so bloody negative

posted in the other thread but:

This is just rough but:

Comparing the same teams we played last year versus this and substituting promoted / relegated teams.

this year we are (08 values before 09):

4 points worse off comparively (52 vs 48)

11 worse off on goal difference (33 vs 22)

less goals scored (45 vs 37)

more goals conceded (12 vs 15)

3 wins in our last 10 league games....

Not title winning form, more like mid table mediocrity.

So all in all, it is a downward trend.......beginning of the season was promising, beating the Mancs and Chelsea, but we've thrown all of that away by dropping silly points against lower teams.

We are just not mentally strong enough as a squad.

This is the right comparison, we are worse off points wise comparing the same games as last season.

Blameshift is a word that springs to mind

Maybe we should sack Parry for refusing Benitez the opportunity of selling Alonso at 12m to buy Barry at 18m or did I dream that.

i cant believe how Parry has become the sole reason for this crap.. maybe if we had Barry and not Alonso we could have been further off than we are now

We don't have the players. End of.

Rafa makes his mistakes but it is the quality of the squad that is letting us down.

So many players have been below par over the whole season or not really good enough to begin with for us to compete:

Aurelio, Dossena, Babel, Benayoun, Lucas, Keane, El-Zhar, N'Gog, Kuyt and perhaps even Arbeloa and Riera.

Not saying it is not impossible to win the league still. We have seen games were players listed above have risen and made the teams look awesome. Together with great talents like Gerrard, Torres, Reina our four CBs and Mascherano and Alonso we can beat anyone. With them in the squad we will always be top 10 in europe and on the day we can be fecking invincible. Can we pull our socks up we could easily bring home a a few league wins on the trot, believe me we will until the end of the season. But we are still short. Not as short as any other season since about 2002 but we still need a few better players. It will bring us 5 or 7 more points in the league. Like any other club with any other manager we will still drop unnecessary points, even at home. The Premier League is THAT good nowadays.

But I still think we are suffering now because our squad is not strong enough. There are a few nagging things about this club that might be crippling us down even more right now but you can't look past our starting XI and the substitutes bench when looking for answers about our league position.

Posted

The players don't have the mentality and i'm not sure the manager does to win the title

We need a big win on Sunday or i fear our season could well and truly implode

Posted

Agree with that above - the negativity and bizarre, stubborn decisions Rafa makes are having a huge effect, but when it boils down to it, i'm not sure the squad is good enough. A lot of very average footballers here, that get a lot of playing time.

Can't help but wonder if we were/are in this position to challange purely cos of the failures of other teams.

I don't see this big leap in quality from last season.

And a few players aside, Rafa has has a generally bad couple of summers transfer wise

Posted

I'm not sure the negativity is at the end of the game or at the beginning.

We don't go out to win it in the firat half. And eventually finish up defending a one goal lead from the first half.

Christ if these players cant rip the a*** out of the opposition then we are in a sorry state..

Time to throw caution to the wind and go out and rip them.
