Iver Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 He makes my blood boil whenever I listen to him - total prick. Did any Irish fans hear him on today FM on Saturday again this weekend? Said he would not be bothered if Rafa failed to agree a new deal and was ultimately forced out. Proceeded then to have a totally predictable swipe at players like Lucas, Yossi, Pennant etc - expensive flops etc etc. Now I don't disagree with some of what he says, but as an ex player in the public domain, his attitude disgusts me. He should take a leaf from Aldo's book - he occasionally questions Rafa's decision making, but always keeps a positive, non-sensationalist take on things. Ronnie was a great player in his day, but he is letting the club down badly in his role as media pundit. Perhaps if he had made a roaring success of his own career in management, he might be better equipped to criticise, but he is not fit to lace Rafa's boots. If you have nothing positive to say about the club where you spent your career Ronnie, then shut your mouth, and say nothing.
Hassony Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 He's an incredibly stupid person. Luckily I don't hear a lot of what he says, but from the few articles/ interviews regarding Liverpool that I have seen, It does strike me that he is a very stupid person, seems to get most of his opinions from the media, you get the impression that he hasn't even seen our games! Houghton on the hand is just a c***

Sion Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) There's a whole gang of them, most hang out on LFCTV as the producers know what to expect; stupid, mainstream opinions than will criticise Rafa over the owners. Edited January 18, 2009 by Sion
dalennie Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Houghton is much worse. So bitter its unbelievable. He's a Moaning Michael.
San Diego Red Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Whelan, McMahon, Houghton, Spackman...Is that the same c*** on FSC? Clueless at best, he is.
jas Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 We have to put up with McMahon in Asia all the time-he's by far the worst pundit I've ever seen, and that includes some absolute *******
Stevie H Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 We have to put up with McMahon in Asia all the time-he's by far the worst pundit I've ever seen, and that includes some absolute *******i agree, he's worse than anything i ever saw back on sky.
carrafan Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) We have to put up with McMahon in Asia all the time-he's by far the worst pundit I've ever seen, and that includes some absolute ******* I dont think he has agreed with one decision that Rafa has made. floyd Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Whelan, McMahon, Houghton, Spackman...add Lawrenson that list. To balance things up, as all those mentioned have a 5lb bag of spuds on each shoulder, the most biased ex-Red out their, is Rushie.
Chili Palmer Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 To balance things up, as all those mentioned have a 5lb bag of spuds on each shoulder, the most biased ex-Red out their, is Rushie. but his opinions are right.
Swipe Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I agree with the opinions here - Houghton is astoundingly annoying - but playing devils advocate, why would the likes of McMahon and Whelan be bitter about LFC? Don't understand it. Or is it simply cos Rafa is "a foreigner"?
uncle bob Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Isnt it amazing the attitude of some 'fans' regarding ex players, some great ex players who dare to question Rafa, its not like they KNOW what it takes to win trophys unlike some of our well informed posters. Disagreeing with Rafa or questioning some of his signings does not make you a fool or bad pundit. What is pathetic is questioning the integrity of some of our great players of which Ronnie Whelan was one.
Mike Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 whelan was a great player for us. that doesn't mean he isn't a d****ead.

We are no longer top of the table so what else is there to talk about but rip into anyone questioning/doubting the boss and b4 all you cheerleaders start frothing... i'm kidding!

Don't understand it. Or is it simply cos Rafa is "a foreigner"?there might be an element of rafa being foreign but mostly i think mcmahon's just bitter that he was a sh*te manager himself. he sits there on the panel as the so-called hardman, straight-talking-tells-it-like-he-sees-it kind, talks out of the side of his mouth like some pub knowall and just talks complete crap. he spent the summer moaning about how torres scored all of those goals in his first season despite being rotated all the time by rafa. he's shocking.

What is pathetic is questioning the integrity of some of our great players of which Ronnie Whelan was one. They may know what it took to win a trophy as a player in a bygone era and in a era which is completely different now. What none of them know is what it takes to be a successful manager, especially at the top level. The ex player who've had some experience - Thompson, Dalglish even Souness can be far more complimentary about the team and Rafa and usually offer a little bit of insight too, though both Thommo and Kenny are partizan. Just because someone played for us and won a trophy does not make them a decent football analyst or a decent person - Lawrenson for example.

The thing is that Ronnie is a moron that just repeats what he hears. He really is a bad pundit. And to answer your last sentence I don't think anyone is questioning his integrity. Just his brains.

The fact that Keys is a football pundit on one of them says it all. I was shocked when I saw the presenter asking him his opinion on the latest matches / news.
Hassony Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Nah Thommo is the most biased. He's great. Thommo, Rush, Dalglish, Barnes and Aldo are all great
