Frosty Jack Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I have us picking up another 41 pts, based on a draw at OT, the mancs 47.Stating the obvious, but it'll be won or lost at OT, unless we also beat Spurs on the final day. (apologies for any math errors here)

cymrococh Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Football will continue to get madder until all other teams in the league simply stand on the goalline with their hands behind their backs while their one flair player runs around up front, occasionally scoring a wonder goal. Dirk Kuyt will work so hard that he disrupts the Large Hadron Collider and creates a warp in the space-time continuum, thus making all football obsolete.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 there'll be one more time before the end of the season where we're all CONVINCED that we'll win it. ultimately, we won't. but we'll do it next year.
carrafan Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 We'll win the f***ing thing. Kuyt will score one off his shin at Old trafford from where Cisse missed one. Torres will score s***loads in the remaining games and we'll concede very little. The mancs will drop points in games just like every other team in the league and Mr. Ferguson will quit at the end of it. Bless.
Dule Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I dont understand why so many people are being so negative at the moment. I know last weekend was a bit of a downer with the draw, United hammering Chelsea, but the thing is there is a long way to go yet. We could still hit top form, United could drop 2-3 games in a row, anything could happen. Im going to do my best to remain positive, even if we are 5 points behind with 2 games left.
Jim D Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Mancs have the easier run in, so regardless of Wednesday's night result they are favourites for the title. We just have to keep chipping away, one game at a time, games start to come thick and fast once we are into February because of other cup commitments. History shows under Rafa this is where we come good so fingers crossed it will continue. If we can leave Old Trafford in March (regardless of the result) but still within touching distance at the top, I'd say we've got a good chance with 9 games remaining.

Falconhoof Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The chances of predicting the results of 34 fixtures must be astronomical. I reckon there will be a surprise result within the next 5 or 6 league fixtures involving these 2 sides. Hopefully either today or Saturday will yield an upset. Overall Man U have to be favourites as they are defending champions and have the home advantage against us. Its a fine margin in a few games that could decide it. That might come from having better rested players in the run in, it might come from players finding an extra gear and winning matches (Keane might come into his own, Ronaldo might find form), or it might come from an established pattern of intimidation of match officials that leads to favouable results for one team.
psl Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 This thread is a bit silly. Let's see how Wigan get on tonight first.
Hassony Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 United have some tricky games in their last 6 games, If we are close to them and we win our last 6 games I think that we will win the title
Woodsyla Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 They have got the easier run in 'on paper', but titles arnt decided on paper are they.I struggle with this, apart from Chelsea/Stoke don't we both have to play the same teams again. Surely the fact that we don't have to play Fulham and West Ham at home is better for us as we paly far better when teams are actually forced to come out of their half !!!!!!!! I'd say the Mancs are favourites because they have experience not because of an 'easy' run in. It's January FFS, how can it be a run in.
GWistooshort Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The Times had a go at this yesterday & predicted Man U would get 49 points from their remaining 19 games, we would get 41 points from our remaining 17 games & Chelsea would get 37 points from their remaining 17 games meaning Man U would finish 1st with 90 points, we would finish 2nd with 87 points & Chelsea 3rd with 79 points See their working out at http://extras.timesonline.co.uk/pdfs/sport...edseasyride.pdf
Jarg Armani Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Times one looks fair enough, i'd like to think we'll get one less draw than that though. and i suspect we need to win at OT for mathematical and non mathematical reasons.
Hassony Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 the way the league has gone this season, there is really no point in predicting that far ahead
Swagger Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Let's see how Wigan get on tonight first. Is it too much to hope that Wigan come out with at least a point?
Falconhoof Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Is it too much to hope that Wigan come out with at least a point? I reckon every trick in the book will be on show. Ferguson will be desperate to win that and on Saturday to make some sort of statement.Expect diving, cynical fouls and shouting in the referees face. A dodgy penalty to Utd should get the ball rolling.
