alias75 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Has it been explained anywhere why he wasn't even on the bench. If he had a knock fair enough but if he was fit to play and he didn't make the bench there have to be some worries about his long term future here. Looking at the subs bench on Saturday we only had Dossena as defensive cover so it wouldn't make sense not to have him on the bench if he was fit. Also another one of those games where a ball carrying centre half could have been useful. Got a bad feeling he may not sign the new contract.
domlfc Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 sure i read somewhere that he was an injury doubt.
Ste M Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 As far as I know, he declared himself fit in the morning, but then got worse (he's got flu?) during the day and was ruled out.

tomasjj Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Was puking all morning according to a poster elsewhere.Gerrard did the same, but still played.
Noel Street Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Well then. You answered your own question. i've got a bad feeling he may start an unsubstantiated rumour
FirstDescent Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 According to the Norwegian fan site he was out with a leg injury, pulled a muscle or something. He and Alonso are expected back for the next match.
5InIstanbul Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 So it was one of Rafa doesnt rate him, flu, sickness or a leg injury. Glad we've cleared that one up.
Boca Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Tony Barrett Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso and Daniel Agger, who both missed the trip to the Britannia through injury, are hoping to be fit for the Merseyside derby at Anfield a week today.
Maldini Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 He sat down beside Skrtel and Martin's aura injured him.
alias75 Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 Good to hear it was an injury / illness. Really think we need a defender with his ability on the ball to make the difference against teams that park the bus. Teams are happy to give someone like Sami time to pick his pass but when its Agger on the ball hes much more dangerous in terms of his passing ability, shooting ability and also his ability to carry the ball into midfield as we've already seen this season.
Jarg Armani Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) edit. just wrote exactly the same thing as above. Edited January 12, 2009 by Jarg Armani
Andy @ Allerton Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Was puking all morning according to a poster elsewhere.Gerrard did the same, but still played. If that's true then I'm pissed off. He was f***ing s****.
Earl Hafler Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 He sat down beside Skrtel and Martin's aura injured him. He stepped in a Degen footprint
