I was told this was 95% sure on Friday night, and 99.9% on Saturday, but didn't get the chance to put any money on it (my mate had a few quid at 4/6).

Anyone got odds on the next Burton Albion Manager??... I'm led to believe who that's going to be, and I'm hoping to make a few quid from it!!

Hope he does well... had a few dealings with him over the years, and he's a cracking lad. Really down to earth and genuine too.

you might get odds on bluesq as theyre the sponsor (just guesswork, no base for the assumption), but not until he's officially left

you could try requesting odds, but obviously they'll suspect you know something and in all likelihood won't entertain you, especially as it's such a small club

just realised he's now officially derby boss, so ignore 1st point

I'm trying to think of why Nigel Clough got the job at Derby. He's done alright at Burton Albion but it's abig step up and the shortlist had some pretty recognised names on it. So what could it possibly be about Nigel Clough that gave him the edge. It's probably staring me right in the face but I just can't quite get to it.

To be fair to him he's taken Burton from the league below the conference south, to the brink of league 2. That's quite impressive. Bit more than just alright.

Fair point, I hadn't realised he'd done that well at Burton.

Even so if he was called Nigel James he'd get nowhere near this job. If he's the right man for the job that's fine but considering Derby are in a bit of a mess I'm not sure now is the time to be appointing a manager based on sentimentality.

maybe because Nigel James hasn't played for england and the top division for as long as Clough

hope he does well

He's been at Burton for 10 years and has been well backed with a new stadium and vast amounts of money compared to their peers. He even got that glamour tie and a replay vs the mancs which must have helped attract players.

Will be interesting if he can swim as well in a bigger pond and without armbands.

Good luck to him / them. Especially in the FA Cup.

Don't really know who rated him when he actually got here to play.Came with a big rep,but never lived up to it,bar that United game.

The Damned United II in order?

He was wonderful to watch when he was at Forest but he just seemed to loose everything when he signed for Liverpool.

I see your Dean Saunders and raise you Phil Babb who was rated on of the best defenders of the 1994 world cup.

Kinell - there's gonna be a massive pot of cash in this hand

Neil Ruddock is also worth a mention but that is as much to do with him being a w***** as anything else. Apart from turning Cantona's collar down in one United game I can't think of a good thing he did at Liverpool except leave.

He broke both of Andy Cole's legs in a reserve game.

One c*** crippling another doesnt count. Close but i can still set the beer bellied fool strutting around in a Liverpool shirt. It was like a poodle dressed as a leprecaun. Something that should never have been allowed happen

Last day of The Kop, just lost to Norwich, and Ruddock is standing there grinning holding a scarf above his head in front of the cameras (and in front of the terrace) as if everyone is there to see him like he's a new cockney-boy signing being paraded by the scarsers. He was getting called all sorts of c*nts that day and told to get off our f*cking pitch.
