Been thinking all season away at Stoke could be the one game this season where big Sami Hyypia becomes almost our most crucial player with the way they play by launching everything they can long into the penalty area for their big men.

And I reckon if he's fully fit Rafa may opt for the more physical Skrtel alongside him. Agger for all his class has at times looked a bit uncomfortable against a more physical, direct approach and this may be one to rest him.

If Sami can keep getting up and heading those long throws away all afternoon its going to take away the majority of their threat, because Stoke have made it uncomfortable for some good sides at their place this season so far.

Sami's form generally has been excellent when called upon again this season just as it was last. I know he wants to play every week but Rafa's rotation could result in his playing career extending into his late thirties because he looks great for it.

To be honest he has looked like the Hyypia of old both this season and last; brilliant to see him having somewhat of an Indian summer, and we will certainly need him to be at his imposing best on Saturday.

They've got a number of their big men out, it shouldn't be a big problem

Skrtel to clobber Delap and give him a dead arm so he can't throw, we win 10-0

That's why i was a touch surprised he played against Preston, as I think he's a nail on to play on Saturday to deal with their long ball.

But he's been outstanding this season. My da is a Spurs supporter and loves him.

Said during a recent match. "He's just class. Does the simple things... simply"

Sami is one of those honest professionals whom even supporters of other clubs respect, because he's a great player but just gets on with the game in the right way. Even know a couple of Mancs who speak very highly of him.

Their scoreboard couldn't keep count of 8 last time, so with 10 it might explode.

God knows why he wasn't in the Champions League squad.

1. Because he isn't British / Home Grown

2. We had Skrtl, Agger and Carra who could play CB

I lost my s*** with an Arsenal fan a couple of weeks back who couldn't see how great Sami was. 'Would he get in the defence of a top four side'? he asked in that typically smug Arsenal way.

He might get in theirs now they are fifth.

I read someone say recently he'd not far off our best ever centre back. He's been an awesome presence in our team since arriving.

If this a*** fan rates Adams, Keown and Bould as good CBs (they all were, especially Adams) then he should surely appreciate Sami.

sami and skrtel at the back is a good call on saturday, stoke will be lumping it at sidibe and possibly dave kitson given that fuller is out suspended.

and arsenal fans or whoever, anyone who doesn't rate sami hyypia as absolutely top class doesn't know anything about football. he's been magnificent for pretty much ten years.

Since the two own goals in his first two games last season Sami has been nothing short of outstanding in every game. His level of consistency and professionalism sets down a marker at this club that can only help players like Skrtel, Agger and San jose etc. I really hope we sign him on as a player registered coach next season and keep him in the club.

Veteran Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia is fast becoming the most wanted man in the January transfer window - Stoke, Fulham, Sunderland, Blackburn and Tottenham all see him as a cut-price option to bolster their defensive options. (Daily Star)

Seventy bazillion dollars.

No way is Sami missing out on the chance to win the title and his 10 year qualification for a testimonial.

they can all f*** off

Indeed.

Play him with a bunch of kids in the League Cup and he looks his age.

Play him in the first team and he looks the best defender on show.

Having him in the squad gives us the option of using Carra at RB, which is just as well given the start to Degen's LFC career.

Exactly what I said. Pretty much kicked him out of the room in disgust.

he would be in my all time premiership XI easily

bet you plenty of pundits would have terry, stam, ferdinand, pallister, bruce, adams, keown, campbell and others ahead of him. cobs probably would too.

I think there's an argument for playing Agger at left back against Stoke.

We won't lose much going forward, he's better in the air than Aurelio and Dossena, and I wanted to see Agger given a run at left back before Insua came in and did so well.

One thing is helping Sami be so good recently and that is rotation. Not playing every game has really helped conserve his best.

He's been an unbelievable servant for the club. :applause:
