Earl Hafler Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Averaging three goals a home match and running away with La Liga. I've always had loads of respect for Pep Guardiola as a player ( even wanted us to sign him when he left Barca ) and now he's a very promising manager. Check out this goal from Toure http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/1930757/
allawee Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Everything looks better when you play inferior teams, just look at Celtic in the SPL! I don't think that the Spanish league has the depth of the PL. Their champion league group was the weakest. I still think they are good, but us, Chelsea or Man U are still favourites IMO. Wait and see in the next CL round. Don't understand me wrongly, they are class, but they not better than us!
Earl Hafler Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 I think you underestimate the quality of La Liga.
_00_deathscar Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Just noticed that today. 51 goals in 17 games is mad.
Sion Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I think you underestimate the quality of La Liga. I would say on the whole the quality of La Liga is very much over-rated.There are hardly any teams that set up to stop the opposition playing, there are at least 10 in the PL. That means it's easy for teams like Barca to outclass them
Leo No.8 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Great footballing side but I bet they want to play us less than we want to play them in the CL...
Nebraska Red Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Messi took Athletico to the cleaners, 3 goals (albeit 1 from the spot) and a cracker that hit the bar. Ray Hudson actually orgasmed, or he sounded like he had, on Gol TV this afternoon after Messi hit the bar. The man wants locking up for some of the crap he comes out with. Even playing a bunch of squaddies, Barca still looked head and shoulders above Athletico, who are 5th in La Liga. La Liga is poor this season, once you get past the 7th place team, you are looking at a bunch of very average and below average teams.
Nebraska Red Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 That's tinkering if you use the standards aplied by SKY to Rafa. the only regulars were Toure, Alves and Messi. Iniesta is just back from injury and all the others are not starters.
Minder78 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 On a pure skill level mid table or lower La Liga teams have a greater skill level than EPL teams in similar positions. Remember last year a perceived weak Barcelona team played United off the pitch for two legs and if Samuel Etoo hadnt been such a lazy, useless t*at they would have beaten United.
_00_deathscar Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I thought Man Utd let them have the ball to be honest. It was very much an Arsenal like performance from Barcelona.
£440,000 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 They've got a goal difference of plus 49 after 20 games. That's phenomenal. If they carry on the way they are they might well rack up 100 points this season and score well over a hundred goals. They really are different class at the moment.
Cam Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Aye, but would they get a draw away at Wigan, eh? Eh? EH??!!! Would they bo11ocks; the over-rated, workshy ponces. Drawing games is where it's at.
Tosh Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Messi with a stunning winner tonight And they finished with 9 men (as should Chelsea)
Ombudsam Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 two from Messi with his right. his second was sensational, they should have given him two goals for it and he should have one a penalty in the process. That's 3 (three) goals from one shot. This boy's special.
Nebraska Red Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 two from Messi with his right. his second was sensational, they should have given him two goals for it and he should have one a penalty in the process. That's 3 (three) goals from one shot. This boy's special. how long before Citeh offer Barcelona 1 billion dollars for Messi? we should have tried to do a swap for him and dangled Keane as the sweetener in the deal.
Nebraska Red Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 nice goal by Henry from a superb Bojan cross to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead in the Kings Cup game. HT not a hoofball in sight, except by the keeper!
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Have 40 quid on Barca to win by 2 or more goals at 7/10 If they go 2-0 up I will be putting £8* on Mallorca to score the next goal in order to hedge my bet and not lose anything *At present they are 5/1 for the next goal so I assume they will be at least the same if Barca are 2 up
Sion Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) PSV to win -2 and Barca to win -2 was 5/1. PSV won 6-0didn't get on it though, stupid non-gambling idiot that i am, although Barca could easy not win by 3 I suppose Edited February 5, 2009 by Sion
Sion Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 2-0 down away to Betis after 25 minutes Mark Gonsales scored the 2nd
Zoob Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 2-0 down away to Betis after 25 minutes Mark Gonsales scored the 2nd You had better hope that Will isn't anywhere near. Barca to comeback and win 4-2
Zoob Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Really good save from Eto'o's pen, buy Eto'o follows up rebound to score
