MFletcher Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Ninety seconds for the Forest game, sixty seconds for Southend holding Chelsea, extended highlights of the 0-0 between Hull and Newcastle, recaps after every single ad break, games with no relation to each apparently shoved inyo 'small packages' for no apparent reason and announcements about games being called off chucked in with different highlights packages at random. It goes to show that the BBC are actually fairly clued in when it comes to MOTD. If you're a Forest fan coming back from Manchester and fancy reliving a bit of the day, you're going to be thrilled to realise that your game is about six in and has been afforded a blockbusting ninety seconds in which they highlight the three goals and then move on. Dreadful stuff.
Barnesy_10 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 yup, was a shocking programme.... I asked the missus if the Chelsea highlights had been on, apparently they were on when I popped outside to lock the car. I think they messed up the priorities with alot of the games like you said. The Forest came across like it was insignificant compared to the majority of other games which had predictable outcomes.
Zoob Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Did they have Andy Townsend in a truck discussing tactics?
kenny7 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The a****** hosting the show couldn't help but insinuate Rafa was causing Keane's poor form by YET AGAIN taking him off espiteit being Torres coming back and keane missing a hatfull of chances, the fountain of all knowledge that is Robbie Earle and the world class manager that is Alan Curbishley just backed this clown up.
Billy Dane Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I think the host is a Liverpool fan, for what it's worth.

The highlights package was pishIt wasn't till nearly 5 o'clock yesterday that I realised our game was on telly, had to go hunting through the channels to find ITV.Never bothered with the highlights but FWIW I watched about 10 mins of Setanta's highlights this morning by feck they are bad as well.Where you at in chilly jock land DJM?
Karl Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ITV are just awful - I still have flashbacks to when they covered the prem. Nasty stuff.
Gunga Din Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ITV shouldnt be allowed football. they are worse than s***

Glasgow libero. You?
kenny7 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Hmmm....DJM from Glasgow. Could it be???? How did you work that out?
Gerry Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 It was clueless. No concept of what to show or how to show it. Looked as if they'd pre-selected the main games they were going to show before they'd been played and stuck with that whatever. You'd have thought with a 90min allocation they'd have been able to show a fair bit of the action, but seemingly not.
libero Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Glasgow libero. You?Sunny Methil in the kingdom.
Cam Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The a****** hosting the showNo wonder he's fecking off to be Dr Who. It took ITV about 10 years to be any good at all with the Champions League - and I think much of that was competition from Sky. Much has been made this decade of the Cup losing it's magic and a lot of that is blamed on the Mancs opting out of it but I think a large part must also go to ITV alienating viewers the last time they had the rights (the 2 events co-incide).
stressederic Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ITV had already decided which games they were going to feature before Saturday's games had fully finished. They were already advertising it with the focus on games like Macclesfield - Everton despite the fact that the final whistle had only just blown at Man City with the biggest shock of the day.
gns Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 i flicked over and the pompey game was on, looked like some fella had sent in the highlights he had done on his handycam.
Swipe Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 i flicked over and the pompey game was on, looked like some fella had sent in the highlights he had done on his handycam. Noticed that too. Was thinking "what a tight, small ground Pompey have had to play at. They'll be glad to get them home". Then i realised it was Fratton Park and cameraman was apparently standing on the touchline recording it with his phone. The host of the show really is a t***. Camp and clueless. Belongs on a game show.
smithdown Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The host of the show really is a t***. Camp and clueless. Belongs on a game show. He carries on as if he thinks everyone has told him they really really fancy him.
