MFletcher Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...4725102,00.html However, Alonso has had his winning goal for Liverpool at Chelsea on October 26 taken away by the panel. The first-half goal ended Chelsea's 86-game unbeaten home league record and put Liverpool three points clear at the top of the Premier League. The Spaniard's shot had deflected off Jose Bosingwa and into the net leaving Blues keeper Petr Cech wrong-footed to inflict the first defeat on the team under Luiz Felipe Scolari. The panel have now credited the strike as a Bosingwa own goal. Seriously. What?
fred milne Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Lampard's goals-tally is going to take a hammering if this is applied consistently.
Frosty Jack Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Lampard's goals-tally is going to take a hammering if this is applied consistently. and Joe Cole
Guy_Incognito Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Is there any news on how this will affect my fantasy league standings, with Bosingwa being in my team and all? I can't believe I wasn't consulted.
CarraLegend Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 f***ing hell, that is utterly pathetic. It also baffles me why some crappy thing exists to take goals away from footballers. Bizarre.

MFletcher Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Can anyone explain to me how it wasn't going in in the first place? Because I'm really quite confused, as there was absolutely no controversy whatsoever at the time.
CarraLegend Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Also, how the f*** has Windass been given that goal? At least Alonso had a shot! Windass got the tiniest touch on the ball and just nodded it down and Pamarot put it in. Surreal.
CarraLegend Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Can anyone explain to me how it wasn't going in in the first place? Because I'm really quite confused, as there was absolutely no controversy whatsoever at the time. Aye, it looked on target to me which makes this all the more baffling. I wonder if these clowns on this committee get paid for this s****? Sort of sums up football at the minute. Clubs going down the pan while these bellends get paid for taking goals away from people.
stressederic Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Oh for crying outloud. It's not as if Alonso's shot was headed out for a throw in or something before the deflection. Cech was going to have to make a save!
Gunga Din Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 as long as they dontchalk the points off, i couldnt give a s***
John Nada Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I wonder how many bookmakers had already paid out on Alonso scoring for that game.
Ombudsam Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Lampard's goals-tally is going to take a hammering if this is applied consistently. I remember an England game where Lampard shoots, the ball deflects of Owen and Lampard gets the goal. Amazing.

Guest PaulMcC Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I wonder how many bookmakers had already paid out on Alonso scoring for that game. I'd say all them cos it was his goal at the time.
psl Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I remember an England game where Lampard shoots, the ball deflects of Owen and Lampard gets the goal. Amazing.Yep, against Wales. Was absolutely mad.
Frosty Jack Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Yep, against Wales. Was absolutely mad. You would've called it an Owen O.G.?
Hightown Phil Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I remember an England game where Lampard shoots, the ball deflects of Owen and Lampard gets the goal. Amazing. I had Lampard 2-0 that day. I certainly didn't complain.
Alonso Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Even better one than that was at the Euros in 04 and Rooney had a shot it hit the post came off the keeper and went in and they gave it to Rooney. At no point was the shot ever on target!
Alonso Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Out of curiosity was Carragher's v Boro given as an OG?
David Hodgson Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 f***ing hell, that is utterly pathetic. It also baffles me why some crappy thing exists to take goals away from footballers. Bizarre. Exactly. Why is it good for the game to look to create negative statistics such as own goals ? Who does it benefit ? Before this panel existed anything that wasn't going for a throw in, and went in, was given to the original striker of the ball. It's clearly his pro-activity that was the main force in making the goal happen. Own goals should be credited to the sort of idiots who inhabit those sh*tty 'blooper' videos presented by has-been ex-players. The ones where some d*ckhead blindly whacks it over his keeper's head from 30 yards, without looking.
