New York Red Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Their names are F. Torres and M. Skrtel. Don't forget that. My confidence in our chances for winning the league is higher than it has ever been.
floyd the barber Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 (edited) its gonna be interesting to see what rafa does....especially at center back, hyypia and carra have been outstanding....agger also is slowly returning to form and has been back to his best these past 2 games........a good problem for a manager to have.. Torres....well no doubt he`ll go right back in, the interest here comes in who will partner him and if we go back to a 4-4-2 in midfield... OR.............and what is more likely, erase everything above and come to terms with the fact that Rafa will pick the team depending on the opposition... It feels great to be back where we belong...lets hope we push on!!! Edited December 28, 2008 by Lets get Masched
Ibby Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 put it this way if we had nando playing today we would have won by a small rugby score. The way to go surely is to continue as we have been away from home with nando or keane up top and perhaps play the both of them against the so called lesser sides at home
fred milne Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 A tad premature to be calling Skrtel world class. The lad has tons of potential but there are still some rough edges to his game.

He had a decent end to last season and started this season well. Hopefully there is much to come from him, but he is attracting some hype among the support
Hassony Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 he is easily as good as vidic, and he is supposed to be world class isn't he
Knox_Harrington Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 he is easily as good as vidic, and he is supposed to be world class isn't heI don't see how you can be that confident of that from what we've seen. He may be that good but we are talking about a centre half who hasn't completed a season yet in English football to all intents and purposes. I think he looks a cracking player, I'm happy he's ours, I think he will be a worldbeater but I wouldn't be whacking "easily as good as Vidic" about the place. Two league titles and a European Cup in the last two seasons for him.
Smith Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 he is easily as good as vidic, and he is supposed to be world class isn't he At least as good. Weaker on the head, better passer.
Kahnee Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Two league titles and a European Cup in the last two seasons for him. Same can be said of Darren Fletcher and John O'Shea...
Rimbeux Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 he is easily as good as vidic, and he is supposed to be world class isn't he Way to go and time to serve before you can say that
fred milne Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Same can be said of Darren Fletcher and John O'Shea...Neither were regulars.
Kahnee Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Neither were regulars. And neither could be considered as good as Vidic, just pointing out that medals are no indiactors of talent. Champions League Winner Djimi Traore, for example.
Guest PaulMcC Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I think he's better than Vidic. Not world class yet though.
Kahnee Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I think he's better than Vidic. Traore??????
fred milne Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Traore?????? He needs to work on his goal-line Cruyff-turns but the potential is there for all to see.
Knox_Harrington Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 And neither could be considered as good as Vidic, just pointing out that medals are no indiactors of talent. Champions League Winner Djimi Traore, for example.A side that's winning two consecutive titles as well as a league and European Cup double isn't carrying a first choice centre half. O'Shea and Fletcher are s**** examples comparably, as is Traore. David May, perhaps.

I was making the point that using winner's medals as an indication of ability and talent wasn't always a good thing. Hence the Traore reference.

Player plays week in, week out, in central defence for a side that has done the league and European Cup double and won the league the previous season. It may not always be a good thing but in this specific instance it is a very pertinent point indeed.
