stressederic Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Would be nice to get the win and stay top. Would also be nice to wrack up a good few goals. I'd feel bad in a way for Hull because they've been good entertainment this season but hey, f*** 'em.
fraggle5 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Is Kuyt injured or was he just rested in midweek?
Ben 23 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Is Kuyt injured or was he just rested in midweek? Dropped. I think he must have been rested he doesn't really do injuries does he?
Cooger Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I liked the look of two wide players mid week. Given that we have struggled to break down teams at home this season ala Fulham, West Ham and Stoke, I think we should play our most attacking side. The reason for this is we know we're going to control the game regardless of who plays, this means we need our best attacking players on the field giving us the best possible chance of winning. I'd like to see this: -------------------------Reina--------------------------- Arbeloa-----Carragher----------Agger--------Dossena / Insua Babel--------Alonso-------------Gerrard---------Riera ---------------Kuyt--------------Keane----------------
Ben 23 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Good game for Insua in my opinion. Hope N'gog doesn't start though.

Insua didn't play for the ressies in the week so you'd think he's going to be involved in some capacity but thats another really tough call for Rafa Dossena has done well in his last two games and his crossing has been good but Insua played well last weekend. I just hope Aurelio is back for Arsenal!!! Whoever plays its got to be at a hight tempo full backs pushing on, Agger bringing the ball out when he can and we need to make any pressure we have count, I think Hull will try and be compact after seeing what Fulham and West Ham did, its our job to stretch them and when we get a chance we've got to take it- This is a must win game
Cooger Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I'd like to see that side too, can't see it though Benayoun wasn't used in the week so I think he'll probably be in somewhere I think you're right, however I hope he doesn't start. Yossi was bought to replace Garcia. This means offering some guile and creativity in the final third of the field and winning games for us. Unfortunately he hasn't done this, as he wants to hold onto the ball to long and ultimately more often than not loses the ball or the chance has gone. He'll beat a player and have an opportunity to shoot / pass, but instead he'll try and beat that player again, then maybe again, until he gets tackled. I wouldn't be disppointed should he leave in January.
Hector McDougal Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Dropped. I think he must have been rested he doesn't really do injuries does he?Don't know why Rafa rested him, he never feels tired. If Dossena playes, I'd like to see Dirk get into the box a bit more to get on the end of those crosses he whips in.
baz2107 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 be tempted to drop arbeloa for this one. For who? Darby or Carra (with Sami playing centre back) for me right back is the area we could really do with improving I like Arbeloa and think he's had a good season, but if we were to sell Dossena then I'd buy a right back with the money knowing we have Aurelio, Insua and Arbeloa all capable of playing left back.
Cooger Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Arbeloa is fine. He's playing well in defense and attack. He could do with some competition though.
Mike Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Arbeloa is fine. He's playing well in defense and attack. He could do with some competition though.i don't think he has been playing well for the last 2 - 3 games though. perhaps he needs a rest.*note to hassony, i said perhaps *

Leo No.8 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 This is the biggest game since the dawn of time. Or at least the biggest game since the famous 3-3 clash between Monkeychester United and Ape City back before evolution was complete and men walked upright.
Swagger Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I'd like to see this: -------------------------Reina--------------------------- Arbeloa-----Carragher----------Agger--------Dossena / Insua Babel--------Alonso-------------Gerrard---------Riera ---------------Kuyt--------------Keane---------------- Me too. But I'll instruct Kuyt to stay up and hold the line, no need for both Keane and him to drop deep.
Flasher Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I'd like to see this: -------------------------Reina--------------------------- Arbeloa-----Carragher----------Agger--------Dossena / Insua Babel--------Alonso-------------Gerrard---------Riera ---------------Kuyt--------------Keane---------------- For your information, we played 4-4-2 at home to Stoke, Fulham and West Ham. Guess what happened? We have in other games too, like Boro, Portsmouth & Wigan, and struggled through to victories by 1 goal. For me, this is the reason for poor home form. We play better as 4-2-3-1, like we do away, which is why we do better away IMO. Gerrard in the middle of a 4-4-2 isn't that great.
Ben 23 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Anyone dropping Mascherano is mad.Not sure he's needed for Hull but I suppose Giovani is there most dangerous player. Can't drop Alonso though. Gerrard on the right or 4-5-1?
allawee Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Last couple of home matches, many have said that they expected 3 or 4 goals for us, and I never had that feeling. But today, for some reason, I think everything will click into gear. Keane will score, and will be 3 or 4-1 to us. I think Hull's game is suited to our style.
Coyler Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Who was it had the "Wee kin, wee Kuyt" signature? "Keane" would totally fit that.
Malcolm X Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I am quite nervous about today. It will be interesting to see how we handle the pressure. Keane needs to get his finger out of his ar*e.
