said we are ToptheLeague !

frustrating as that was for 90 mins i've just had a look at the table and we're Top, after 15 games, no less.

If you're a United or an Arsenal fan, you'll be bouyed by the weekend's results but you're also 6 (+ game in hand) & 8 points behind us.

All 4 of the big guns are having some problems this season. Chelsea with 2 defeats to their rivals and a host of injuries. United also with 2 defeats to their rivals and Ronaldo not quite in the same scintillating form of last year. Arsenal are just as inconsistent as us except their soft underbelly has been exposed to much greater cos both home and away.

We are in the title race and right now we've been the best team in the League so far this season. The table tells you that. It's a FACT!

Those booing at the end of the match tonight need to get a feckin grip. Yes, we could be 5 point clear but we're not, but at least we are top. Go and have a pint and remember that.

you are easily pleased.. our problem has been drawing against s**** like west ham and it still remains.. We also have a striker who despite being a totally s**** seems to think he should be finishing everygame.

Yes, but we've also had to cope without one of the best strikers in the world for over half our league games.

That's the sort of game a fully fit Torres would make a difference in. He's spent nearly the entire season either unfit, injured or working his way back from injury. When he's fit and firing, we'll be fine.

Sorry Cobs, but I'm afraid we are just papering over the cracks at the moment. Our deficiencies at Anfield are plain to see, Manchester United and Chelsea are dropping points as well but that just makes it worst on our part. We are bottling it and if we had any creativity or guile to break down a packed defence we would be way clear at the top.

Kuyt was left on when he was going through a poor spell.

Rafa needs to get the team clicking again because this could easily turn into another 02/03 season.

because i'm looking at the big picture

1 Liverpool 15 34

2 Chelsea 15 33

3 Man Utd 14 28

4 Arsenal 15 26

All 4 of these clubs' fans have stuff to moan about so far this season. One set of them will be celebrating a championship come May - at that point they wont be giving a monkey's f*ck about these issues. Despite all our problems we've been the best of this bunch to date.

Some people are very hard to please.

How many more opportunities will Chelsea and/or Manchester United give us to move ahead of them?

Not many i'd guess.

Dreadful performance and result.

the bigger picture say Man Utd will overtake us if we keep faltering.. league ends in May and we have been atrocious in terms of creativity and goals..

We already are ahead of them !?!?!

How many more slip ups will they have ? who knows - it's been a funny old season so far.

Maybe we should throw the next 4 games and relinquish top spot - just to end the speculation?

Based on what we've seen so far this season I would say plenty.

And yet we're top.

I'd be adopting the same optimism as you if we had 1 or 2 games to play when we could stumble over the line but we've got a serious achilles heel which we don't seem to be able to address. The Mancs are notorioulsy strong in the the second half of the season, not to mention Chelsea. I'd love to be proved wrong but it just has a 02/03 air of inevitablility about it.

Or just wait for the inevitable repeat against Hull in a couple of weeks

the title is won over 38 games not 2 and not 15

so far we've been the best, if you want to piss and moan about the last 2 performances, fine. I wouldn't swap our current position with anyone elses

Carragher himself said its early days and all that.... Told the fans to calm down and only panic come April... fair enough. But the Mancs are catching us up and we are dropping points at home whereas the Mancs and Chelsea rarely do. We have Arsenal to play at the Emirates soon and today would have been a great buffer for us prior to this game.

Next weeks games

15:00 UK Arsenal v Wigan Emirates Stadium

15:00 UK Bolton v Chelsea Reebok Stadium

17:30 UK Man Utd v Sunderland

Can anyone honestly see our rivals dropping any points

Absolutely but we've had the easiest start in terms of fixtures out of all the big 4. We have handed the initiative now back to the Mancs, if they win their game in hand they will go within 3pts of us having already played at Stamford Bridge, The Emirates and Anfield. This season we are dealing with a different type of pressure which Chelsea and the Mancs have plenty of experience with. We don't that is why it is so important to not drop silly points against the likes of Stoke at Anfield. Its another missed opportunity.

To be fair, Chelsea have dropped even more at home this season than us. Newcastle and Spurs aren't much better than the sides who've got draws at Anfield this season. It's the Mancs that are the worry.

I think most of this forum will spontaneously combust if that happened, I just dare not think about it.

Fulham & West Ham have 36 pointe between them. Being generous, we should have put at least one of them to bed.

Shades of last season here when we were unbeaten after 9, winning 5 & drawing 4 or whatever.

Stoke - you can accept as 'one of those things'

Fulham who'd taken a point away prior to us was really bad. This is s****.

The table doesn't lie, but it's not entirely accurate either - after 15 games. Some teams have had easier games than others, more at home etc

Exactly. If it was a thing that we had actually drawn every home game 0-0, then it would be a worrying trend and the extrapolated prognosis would not be good.

Has to be viewed as two points lost to-night, but that's one less than Chelsea dropped yesterday. Which is why we're winning.

stoke, fulham and west ham, have cost us a total of 6 points less tou our current tally. Realistically, we would never have gathered all 6 , thus we should be plus 4 points to our tally, which only means that we must gain these 4 points from more difficult matches.

Perhaps Cobs is right. we are top and just rafa just needs to identify a way,as to amke the team score more goals, by creating more clear cut chances. Easier said than done though.
