Molby Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 last time I felt like this was in about March 1997 the mancs lost at home to Derby and we had Coventry at home next day and were leading until the last few minutes and then managed to lose 2-1 tonight is not 'just another game' its a chance to show we mean business or conversely to become a laughing stock it's abundantly clear that Rafa now needs to start managing the crowd and I expect him to do it by killing two birds with one stone tonight by playing a simple, uncompromised formation and getting us out the blocks early doors 2-0 up by half time and everyone happy - just steamroller the f*****s
fellafeen Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Every game has been the biggest but I really feel that this game absolutely cements the whole season. We have to score before halftime before a real nervousness that has Benitez has spoken about becomes endemic
Hassony Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 That coventry game is always on mind whenever we have a situation like tonight, it was another James howler wasn't ? We really have the perfect opposition to beat and go top tonight, It will be a great test of our mental toughness
Malcolm X Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Was just about to set up a new post saying exactly the same thing. If we are to show our title credentials we need to win tonight to show that we have got what it takes. Otherwise we can kiss the league goodbye. If we cant take advantage of our rivals slipping up then we will definitely struggle to cope with the pressure at the business end of the season. I know there are no easy games but we have to beat the likes of West Ham. Oh and the crowd need to do their bit. If the crowd cant be bothered to support the team in games like this then those same people shouldnt bother turning up for any fixtures agains the Big Four or any European match.
smithdown Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 We should be winning this already. It's nearly half ten, ffs!
suzyv Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 yes we realy need to be up for it in the ground early. Well I will be tonight lost 40 quid in town yesterday so am skint and cant go to the pub.so will be in my seat about 7 So need a good win and a good sing to cheer me up.
D.Boon Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 If we had got all 3 points last week and a good result tonight would have seen us 5 clear
Molby Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 We should be winning this already. It's nearly half ten, ffs! that's how I feel Rafa should post up his 4-4-2 Kuyt and Keane up front formation now, to get the crowd buzzing
Hassony Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 If we had got all 3 points last week and a good result tonight would have seen us 5 clear + win against spurs + Gerrard's goal against Stoke and we would have been 10 points ahead

We really have the perfect opposition to beat and go top tonight, It will be a great test of our mental toughness it was 2 Gary Mac corners collectively f***ed up by our defence, including Macateer deciding to stroll away from the post he was defending instead of kicking the ball clear still haunts me to this day...such a great weekend until that moment
smithdown Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 (edited) I'm gonna hit someone in a minute. Can everyone stop talking about sh*t games and sh*t results? We beat Oxford 6-0 at home to go top once. Everyone went mad when Big Jan rolled in the sixth from the spot cos we knew that was us top. O feckin K? Edited December 1, 2008 by smithdown
Swipe Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Is it a scud to put money on us for the league?? Our odds will be slashed if we win and go top tonight
honourablegeorge Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 We have to score before halftime before a real nervousness that has Benitez has spoken about becomes ndemic Dunno about half time, but the nervousness thing is spot on. A thirty yard screamer from Gerrard after three minutes would do the trick. And one every three minutes after that until about half time.

Stevie H Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 it's three points same as it ever was. but psychologically, to go into december three ahead of chelsea and eight ahead of the mancs, particularly with the knowledge that we're traditionally better in the back half of the season, would be f***ing boss.
KD07 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 are we past the mockering era or have I been shanghaied in a Delorean whilst waiting to be reregistered?
D.Boon Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 + win against spurs + Gerrard's goal against Stoke and we would have been 10 points ahead I blame the media bias.

Good to see some perspective has returned since the big cull...

Just before United go to Japan as well...

stressederic Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 It's also worth wondering if we're better in the 2nd half of the season in the league because we're not (often) locked in a title race...
Stevie H Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Can we rely on that this year as much, considering the rotation has been less?who knows? only one way to find out though. finding that balance is where the managers make their money and reputations.
Gunga Din Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Big game Not the biggest in 19 years though not even the biggest of our season so far. people need to take a step back and f***ing chill out
