Arnie Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) *We rely on the forums of the best LFC sites on the Net (with their prior permission) to promote our articles.* Now we have published the second part of Thommo's interview Phil Thompson spent 25 years at the Reds as player, captain, reserve team trainer, assistant manager and acting manager. Various topics were discussed at length so his interview was split into two parts. The first part published last week concentrated on his playing days: http://www.lfchistory.net/redcorner_articl...article_id=2245 In the second part of his interview Phil talks about his time as manager and coach, the players that got away, how close his mentor, Ronnie Moran, was to become manager of Liverpool on full-time basis, the tooth incident and the enigma that is Nicolas Anelka. http://www.lfchistory.net/redcorner_articl...article_id=2311 Previous interviews: - Ian Callaghan http://www.lfchistory.net/redcorner_articl...article_id=2244- Gerry Byrne http://www.lfchistory.net/redcorner_articl...article_id=2213 LFChistory.net is an accessible website for stats and historical articles on Liverpool FC. LFChistory.net has all the results from official games, every goalscorer, every single line-up and profiles of all players who have appeared on Liverpool's teamsheet since the 1892/93 season. Cobs Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 great stuff again, Arnie quite a scoop on those Terry/Shearer stories
Andy Mac Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I really enjoyed reading that. Thanks for posting.
Bootle Buck Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) I really wish Rafa could have found a place for Thommo on his staff in some capacity. His passion and knowledge of the club would have been very useful. I think the work he did when Houllier was ill was taken for granted. He was also very loyal to GH and never tried to overstep his authority when he was out. Many others would have tried to position themselves to take over the helm at that point. However, he was always adament that it was GH's team and he would return. Edited November 19, 2008 by Bootle Buck

fabfive Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Rafa has Sammy Lee so there is a connection there. Once again, another great read.
