JohnBonham Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 (edited) I don't think Alonso will play. Why rest him against WBA and then play him in the Carlig cup? Plessis, El Zhar and Insua won't play for the reserves against Portsmouth tonight and I think all of them will feature. baz2107 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Is Degen fit? was on the bench against Madrid, so presume so
AE Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I think Rafa will give Torres 60 minutes or so for match fitness.

Knox_Harrington Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I would prefer Xabi in there instead of Yossi with Lucas in an advanced roleXabi should be getting the next three nineties after this one. I know what you are getting at though.
Earl Hafler Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I would prefer Xabi in there instead of Yossi with Lucas in an advanced role Stoned ?
Mike Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 for sentimental reasons yossi should play in this one

The game does matter (not as much as others), and we should try and win. I would play a decent team, with a few fringe players. Leave out the players who play most the time, but fill in with proven internationals like Babel, Lucas, Yossi and give Torres at least 45 mins. If Ngog isn't given a good run out I will start to wonder why we got him. Am I really the only one who wants to win every game?
Hassony Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Am I really the only one who wants to win every game? I am desperate for us to win tomorrow, would love us to win the league cup, and it give more of a chance for the likes of Caveliari, Degen and hopefully Nemeth when he is fit again
CarraLegend Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Am I really the only one who wants to win every game? I badly want us to win this one, but will probably get over it a lot easier than a league defeat if we do lose. The ones saying it "doesnt matter" will be the same ones on here whinging non stop if we do lose with the "this proves our squad is f***ing s****" "are we in crisis?" garbage.
Bailo Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Xabi should be getting the next three nineties after this one. I know what you are getting at though.Surely expressing a full game as "nineties" comes perilously close to infringing your "minutes" rule?!
Knox_Harrington Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Surely expressing a full game as "nineties" comes perilously close to infringing your "minutes" rule?! Nope.
sutty Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Nope. Oh I beg to differ You could have said matches, but you used a minutes derivative For shame, harrington.. for shame.

F*ck that, risking Torres in a game like this. N'Gog is your man.
Knox_Harrington Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 F*ck that, risking Torres in a game like this. N'Gog is your man.I'd give him the hour to sharpen him. He didn't look sharp until The Derby this season. Can't be kept in cotton wool.

You can't rest a hamstring for too long, if he's nailed on ready then maybe a sub spot. If he gets hurt again I'm blaming YOU!!
Knox_Harrington Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 You can't rest a hamstring for too long, if he's nailed on ready then maybe a sub spot. If he gets hurt again I'm blaming YOU!! But you can start getting selected for first team action when you aren't sharp enough. Better to be rusty on Wednesday than on Saturday. He could get hurt at any stage. It is - as I know you know - the nature of playing football.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 My other concern with Torres is that if he is played alongside the wiffies, he really will be our biggest threat and those kinda players get special attention.
