Flasher Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Played 10 - we currently have 26 points 28 games left, 14 of which are at home. Win those, that's another 42 points. That would bring us up to 68 points. We then have 14 games remaining away from home. If we win half of those (very doable), that's another 21 points, making it, 89 points!!!!! My point is this. We are very capable of winning 7 of our remaining away games. Therefore, we must do everything within our powers to win every home game that remains. This is easy, isn't it. ..................... I'm excited, can you tell? I've drunk to much Cola again. ................... I know, i know, mockers and everything. But seriously, we need to win every home game, and as fans, we can help that, surely..
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I don't think it's realistic that we'll win every home game.

aka Dus Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I'd say United are loving cruising along with hardly anyone talking about them. I actually had to check the wehwehweh last night to get their result. Mass media got their attention on us and Spurs and Newcastle right now. Yuo'd hardly have known United were playing last night. Would love us to be cruising along under the radar like that (even if it'll never happen when you're top)

Around the 50 point mark from home games is whats ideally needed to win the league. A total of 57 to be had and we have dropped 2 so far, go the rest of the league dropping only another 5-6 points. achievable?
matty Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 What we need to do is turn over our own team coach to show the players how much we care.

Cunny Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 why don't we just win all the away games as well?we'd be sorted then
Sion Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 The way we've been playing at home recently it'd be a better ask for us to win all our away games.
Spion kop Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 i was working this out earlier, if we have nothing but wins for the rest of the season we can afford to lose 5 games, Arsenal away untied away, etc
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 1 game at a time. We could well look back at these threads in March & grimace

If we can just take it one game at a time, we can look at the table again after New Years. That will be around 22 games gone and then we can start extrapolating. The comment earlier about the Mancs cruising in under the radar is very true. Especially if Placcy is back in goal-per-game mode again.

I couldn't help thinking about a comment elsewhere about how nervous our fans got yesterday. It seemed to rub off on the players, and it doesn't help. Winning at home (one game at a time) is very achievable, particularly when you take it one game at a time. Great support, from us, despite the nerves, could help. The reward for winning the remaining home games could be huge. I love the idea of rolling a bus over though Edited October 30, 2008 by Flasher
Molby Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 here's what we need to do: not get injuries and rotate within a system, not implement systems as we go along eg: we now have a system of being able to rest Masch according to the oppositionfor some home games, eg where teams come to defend, we don't need him and we must prioritise zipping the ball around quickly and moving around the pitch, hence only one midfield 'pivot' needed - Xabi, with as many people moving around him as possible the trick will be to cope with the loss of the likes of Aurelio and Riera without f***ing up our shape and balance I like the idea of winning all our home games mind, let's do that

sean Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 If we MUST win all our home games, surely the others are have to win all theirs and an extra away one? One game at a time lads, for Christ sake. Beat Tottenham the weekend and let the others look after themselves. We'll pt too much pressure on ourselves if we're to worry about Chelsea/Arsenal/UTD all the time, as one of them, if not all will go on a long run unbeaten. Just keep plodding on.

IF we are to win the league and thats a big IF, I very much doubt we will be the league leaders for the entire campaign. Teams will have good and rough spells. The important factor is not to let our heads drop if and when we fall a few places in the league.

Rafa needs to keep it one step at a time for now. But the fans' ability to believe and dream big is critical in the 2nd half of the season. It will no doubt get translated to the players, who at that point will need it as physical and/or mental weariness can start to creep in. I'd liken it to Leverkusen away when the fans' majority opinion shifted to "Well, why can't we win it then?" And it went on from there.
