ynwa.tv Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Down Memory Lane Meet the Referee Double Agents
Alonso Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Will Torres be fit?Do we rest some of the players after the effort against Chelsea? Hyypia in for Carragher? Lucas for Gerrad/Alonso? Babel for Riera?4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1?
DazzlaJ Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I think we might see Hyypia to counteract lurch
Hassony Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I think we might see Hyypia to counteract lurch Agger and Carra should have enough about them to be able to contain Defoe and crouch no need to rotate the defence at the moment
Ronnie Whelan Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I would like to see Babel on from the start for this one.
Hassony Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I would like to see Babel on from the start for this one. In place of Keane, thought he did very well when he came on yesterday
Alonso Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 In place of Keane, thought he did very well when he came on yesterdayDepends how Riera is as he look like he limped off a bit yesterday and has played every game since he signed so may need a rest.
Chili Palmer Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Depends how Riera is as he look like he limped off a bit yesterday and has played every game since he signed so may need a rest. I thought the limp was simply to take longer to get off the pitch.
Mike Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 massive game this and a deffo banana skin potentially. when we beat utd we followed that up with a draw against stoke. who knows how much physically the chelsea game took out of us and its unfortunate that this game comes so quickly afterwards. then we have to go away to the newly bubbling spurs. very tough two games in a short space of time for different reasons.

Fatigue only happens when your loosing. We will be on a high for Wednesday night but still a potential banana skin.
Mike Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Fatigue only happens when your loosing. scientific fact.

I would be happy if we draw with Portsmouth and then went to win the floowing 5 games in the league
Mike Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I would be happy if we draw with Portsmouth and then went to win the floowing 5 games in the league in retrospect yes of course, but in reality, drawing the next home game after a win like yesterday would possibly indicate that we don't have enough in the tank to win the league over 38 games.

Ronnie Whelan Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 scientific fact. If we were only dealing in Fact quite a lot this forum would be deleted.

Managerless Pompey is a potential banana skin, but they are weaker than last year (IMO) even with the additions they have to the squad. They have had to change the way they play this year with two up top and without Rednapp to fine tune they have nothing to fall back on... my concern would be if they go 1 up top with Crouch and leave defoe out. Spurs will be bubbling for about 15 mins against Arsenal when it will go flat. Even if they do well, they will have to run and run and run against the Arsenal ahead of playing us at the weekend
Woodsyla Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 ReinaArbeloa Carra Agger AurelioPennant Gerrard Alonso Babel Keane Torres If Torres is unfit then play Dirk up front
RP Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Spurs is the obvious banana skin - Pompey should be rudderless, whilst Spurs may be reinvigorated playing for a new Manager. Concerned about that game - was really happy we were playing them at this time, till the change of Manager at the weekend.

Spurs worry me with their new manager and bouncing atmosphere. I do tend to worry though.
Woodsyla Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Pompey worry me with their front two. Spurs worry me with their new manager and bouncing atmosphere. I do tend to worry though. At Anfield their front two are barely going to get a touch. Mind you I'd have said the same about Zaki last week !!!! I think we will have far far too much for Pompey going forward. Spurs away worries me though, we've turned in plenty of insipid performances there in our time.

Everyone of them will something different to the previous. Pompey - Crouchy return, our manager left us, boo hoo etc etcSpurs - New manager, trying to get into the top four......West Brom - Becuase they will park the team bus in front of the goal.Bolton - because they are dirty c****. etc, etc, etc.
fred milne Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Spurs is the obvious banana skin - Pompey should be rudderless, whilst Spurs may be reinvigorated playing for a new Manager.Agree with that. I'd be inclined to rest a few on Wednesday with the Spurs game in mind: ReinaArbeloa Carragher Hyypia AurelioBenayoun Lucas Mascherano BabelKuyt Keane Subs: Cavalieri, Dossena, Agger, Alonso, Riera, Gerrard.
surf Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 play the strongest fit XI, think about the spurs game come the weekend.if we're a goal or two up we can start making changes
psl Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 (edited) Agree, Gerrard should definitely play. Torres too, if fit. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/archivedirs...081024-1301.htm Benitez also revealed that Fernando Torres will definitely not feature against the Blues and remains on course to make his comeback from the hamstring injury he picked up on international duty, against Portsmouth on Wednesday. Changing that many in midfield would be mental and is asking for trouble.
