Ed the Wool Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Magnificent. A proper team effort.Thought Riera was a colossus. Those who said Carra was past it, hang your heads. The fans were blasting the place as well, it was rocking.
psl Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Absolutely brilliant. And now you're gonna believe us...
Eiler99 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 We're a bit good, aren't we. First team in four years to win there and we hardly allowed them a shot. Brilliant.
smithdown Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 The fans were blasting the place as well, it was rocking. Yes mate. Made them look small time, again. Hardly a peep out of them, especially the last ten when they should have been on their feet screaming them forward.
Ed the Wool Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Some of the one touch stuff in the middle and final third has me very excited. Keane definitely helps but they are all at it. The understanding between the players is still very early, but if they keep going at that rate we are going to be battering some teams later in the season.I said I wouldn't start dreamng until after the Chelsea game. I'm still not allowing myself to, not until March/April. Someone on another board said they haen't felt that nervous for a league game for ages and it took me right back. Fantastic feeling.
Oli Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 (edited) The thing that impressed me most was how in control we were. After the way the match was beginiing to shape up before half time I was fully expecting an onslaught in the second half and us holding on by our fingernails yet it never materialised. Very impressive display by everyone I thought. Edited October 26, 2008 by Oli
Raj Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Hardly a peep out of them, especially the last ten when they should have been on their feet screaming them forward. Mickey Droy and his pals can f*** right off.
Eiler99 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 How many shots did Chelsea have on target? The only proper chance I remember was Ashley Cole's and that went well wide.

Tosh Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I was really impressed with the lack of panic. Always tried to play the ball out of defence and a lot less lumping it forwards than we used to do. Sure, we lost it a few times but the interplay to get the ball out of tight spaces suggests that the players are now more confident with the ball and with team-mates. Swarm the opposition when we don't have the ball and play it to feet when we do.
psl Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 That was it. Kalou slowly rolled the ball to Pepe in the first half.
stressederic Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 (edited) We were great. Every single player put in a shift for us, it was excellent. Chelsea were rubbish, a big part of that was because we just killed them with and without the ball. We were also only milimeters away (Xabi's freekick and the little pass to send Babel throuch after we sliced Chelsea open) from making it an emphatic win. Edited October 26, 2008 by stressederic
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 keepers aside - we were better man for man. And keepers aside only because Reina had nothing to do. Oh - and Terry's a s***house, the ref gave them FKs every time they fell over & I wish we had Lampard A quarter of the season gone & we're looking good
Anfield Fox Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I'm still pinching myself. I can't remember the last time we were top after a few games have been played. 96/97 we had long spells at the top. Paws crossed we can spend the rest of the season there now.
Mike Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 riera has made a massive massive difference to our game.
Spike Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Rafa done gone got himself that there crushing machine
Tosh Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Rafa done gone got himself that there crushing machineThat phrase popped into my head during the game too!

Maybe it is because Daniel A. is back. He'll be gold now.
Alonso Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 And the luck continues if it's not last minute winners when the game should have ended at 58 minutes we go and add defelcted shots to our repetoire. When will we ever win properly?!?
Tosh Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I am talking about the little tight triangles between LB/LM and a midfielder. Agger brought the ball forwards a couple of times and yes, is perhaps less inclined to hoof than Skrtl, but rather than create space from someone to lump it back to the opposition, we took the time to play it up to the half way line. Where we duly gave the ball away.
Spike Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 riera has made a massive massive difference to our game. A bargain at £8m considering he was a Barry afterthought by all accounts. I f***ING LOVE ALBERT

DazzlaJ Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Carra telling Terry to f*** Off as well was a highlight
