Molby Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 surely not keane on his own? don't like the sound of either one of them will it be this: ReinaArbeloa Carra Agger Dossena/someone better who is fitGerrard Masch Xabi Riera Kuyt Keane or this: Reina Arbeloa Carra Agger Dossena/whoever Benayoun/Babel/Pennant Gerrard Masch Xabi Riera Kuyt option 1 all day long for me what say you?
Jacks Jackie Jackson Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Only one way to beat Chelsea; score at least one more than they do. Waste of time over-thinking it and complicating stuff.
psl Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Is the thread title a question being asked by a gangster rapper? Its just missing a comma.

Cobs Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Dudek Henchoz Hyypia Traore Biscan Cheyrou Murphy Hamann Kewell Heskey Diouf last team of ours to win there i hardly gave us a hope pre-kick off that night so i'm not too down if we're missing a player or two, we can win there and we're due a bit of luck against them in the league
Molby Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 Only one way to beat Chelsea; score at least one more than they do. Waste of time over-thinking it and complicating stuff. yes but you need to pick a team and Torres is injured and they're good; so we need to approach this like a Euro style tactical battle, (personally, slim as our chances are of winning the league, I think that we deffo need to beat them home and away to do it)
Rex Ham Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Christ, you've got to wonder how that team managed to score. It was Cheyrou wasnt it? Its when you look at some of the names in that line-up, even though we were obviously missing key players, that you thank your lucky stars for what we have today.
Rex Ham Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Beating them at home is the important one, not losing away would be decent enough.

Diouf got himself sent off and we ended up with Luzi in nets for the last 15 Hamman was magnificent that night and Traore had a stormer against Gronkjaer (sp?)
Guest Silkky Skillz Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 We should go for a 4-4-1-1. Reina, Dossena, Agger, Carra, Arbeloa, Benayoun, Masch, Xabi, Riera, Gerrard, Kuyt.
stressederic Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Diouf got himself sent off and we ended up with Luzi in nets for the last 15Hamman was magnificent that night and Traore had a stormer against Gronkjaer (sp?) Whilst my feelings on Diouf are fairly well known, even I can admit that was a ridiculous sending off. If I remember correctly he got his studs caught in another players boot laces and when the pair of them stepped forwards Diouf got tripped up. From where the ref was standing, when he turned to face it, it looked like Diouf was kicking out backwards against the Chelsea player.

I can see us doing well even without Torres, much like Man U.
stressederic Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Ah, those were the says. I can see us doing well even without Torres, much like Man U. That's a fair point. United's record without Torres is admirable.
Bo Benn Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 (edited) Pepe Arbeloa Carra Agger Aurelio Riera Masch Alonso Kuyt Gerrard Keane Edited October 18, 2008 by obey Hysén
Chili Palmer Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 noticed that, just couldn't be f***ed changing it.
alias75 Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Id be tempted to play Stevie wide right against Chelsea, especially if Cole is still out Bridge was their one weakness today. Kuyt offers us much more of a goal threat when he plays centrally and i think in terms of the overall strength of the team we're stronger with Gerrard on the right and Kuyt up front. ..................................Reina............................ Arbeloa.............Carragher......Agger.............Aurellio ........................Mascherano...Alonso...................... Gerrard.......................Keane......................Riera ..................................Kuyt...................................
Gunga Din Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 I'd snap your arm off for a point. i'd set up like a Euro away semi, a draw is a good result, try and sneak a win

Gerrard.......................Keane......................Riera ..................................Kuyt................................... I agree with this. I'd have it more as a 4-4-2, but I agree either way. Last season Gerrard didn't get a sniff against Chelsea at the Bridge, as the midfield was packed and narrow. Out wide in these big games, he could get more space and opportunity to supply our strikers.
DJS Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 We can certainly hold our own down there, previous visits have proved that much. Problem is though, they inevitably score at some point and without Torres, we lack the spark and quality in their third of the park. Gerrard needs to step up.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Xabi to break Lampard's ankle & Lampard to get sent-off for it
Jacks Jackie Jackson Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 yes but you need to pick a team Thankfully, I don't. That's Rafa's job I'm glad to say. If I had to pick the team, we'd be in division two before you could say "knife".

Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 I'd snap your arm off for a point. So would I.
