5 games we came from behind this season!

Five games this year the opposition took the lead and then we came from behind to snatch a win.

Middlesborugh

Marseille

Man U

Man City

Wigan

Obviously it show character, but is their a bigger problem that we should be aware of?!

Although they have been very enjoyable games, I feel like I aged about 20 years in the past few weeks.

Some say this is the sign of champions, but personally I would rather be playing and winning like Chelsea are at the moment.

I really don't know the answer and looking for the wise men on this forum to tell me if our luck will run out soon or that although we have not hit top gear this season, at least we are wining.

PS.

Can't wait for the game next week as I think it will prove a real test and will show If Benetiz can out-think the third Chelsea manager in a row and if there is a real gap between us and Chelsea like the sky and setanta pundits claim......oh sorry, it does not really matter, if they win they are class anyway and if we draw or win, the Benetiz is just a lucky manager

I guess there are a few ways to look at it, the way I do is that we are not playing at our best at the minute, far from it, and this thing of winning when playing bad usually is nicking a 1-0 from what looked like a 0-0, we aren't doing that, what we are showing is a desire and belief that by hook or by crook we we will get the 3 points. just watch us go when we click.

next week is THE big test of the season imo. draw or please god win and dare I say it...no, I'll not, but its the opposite of off.

I can see us beating chelsea next week

I think Agger is a much better defender than he shown today, once he settles in back in the side we will be much more solid, and it seems we have many more match winners now than we have had in recent seasons

I think it's a good sign. It shows we can still batter down the door when they've got all their men back. That used to be a big problem.

Agree with Hassony: we'll settle at the back.

I don't think winning, regardless of performance or coming from behind is ever a bad thing.

I remember us playing poorly in the Champs League Final in 2005 and winning.

Then we played Milan again in the Champs League Final, dominating, yet losing.

It's all about winning, building confidence, momentum and showing character.

How many times over the years have we said United or Arsenal are lucky b******s? When they come back or win tight games, despite not playing well. This is what we're doing now, winning, regardless of performance (as we've played well this season at times as well) and it's all about picking up points and stay in with the pack.

Arsenal are playing some great football at times, but they aren't picking up the points we have, despite having far easier games, in my opinion.

We've had Man U, Everton away, Villa away, City away and they are some of the toughest games we'll face this season. Worst case scenario we lose to Chelsea and are still second, having played all those tough games and we'll have a fairly easy run of games till end of January with:

Pompey, Spurs, West Brom, Bolton, Fulham, West Ham, Blackburn, Hull, Arsenal, Bolton, Newcastle, Stoke, Everton, Wigan.

Best case scenario we beat Chelsea and then have that nice run of games.

I think we should be positive that so many players are contributing in terms of assists and goals this season:

Kuyt, Gerrard, Reira, Babel, Torres, Keane, Alonso, Arbeloa, Agger (Carling Cup).

Yes we can play better, but I can only see positives at the moment and it is pleasing to see Benitez going for wins as Carragher said, draws kill you in this league as we saw with us last season. Now we are showing more intent and urgency to win games, yet being patient and waiting for the right openings.

I think we should feel positive and it's about time our fans and players thought we could challenge or win the league. United fans and players believe they can win, Chelsea do and so should we.

Can you work out why they feel that way and we don't?

I assume you are saying that they feel this way because they have done it, unlike us.

However that is not to say we aren't good enough to do it. Winning breeds confidence and momentum and at the moment we are winning games.

Our squad is just as good as the others in my opinion, we've got depth, quality and we aren't reliant on one or two players. I think we should fancy our chances, whether we get a result at the bridge or not.

Our best team is as good, I don't think our squad is as good as Chelseas or Man Utds though.

I don't know.

I think they have beeter options in certain positions and vice versa.

I don't think they have the same depth as our squad for centre backs or centre midfield, for example.

But then again they probably have better full backs and more depth in the wide areas positions.

What I like is over the years Chelsea and United have had goals coming from a variety of sources. This season this is exactly what we are showing with not only Torres and Gerrard winning games. Keane, Riera, Kuyt, Babel are scoring and creating goals.

We are winning games without our best players at times, we are beating the top teams and the ones we have struggled with over the years, such as Wigan. I think we should believe we can challenge, because that's what our players are showing belief that they can win games, whether behind or not, with or without our best players.

We haven't just scraped by in these games though. By the final ten minutes we have been dominating their heads off. Even the Boro game where we played poorly until the last ten.

Better that than taking an early lead and getting complacent/sloppy, like the Wigan game at home last year.

Exactly - we've pretty much been the better team in the last twenty mins against everyone this season - spirit, fitness, tactics - whatever it is, it's working.

You've done well to get on the internet so quickly after the show

Oh I agree.

Take Man City for example, I thought we were controlling the first half and yet they took their only chances and went in ahead. It was against the run of play.

However instead of going gun-ho, all out attack or hoofing the ball into the opposition boz, whenever possible, We simply kept passing the ball and waiting for the right opening, by stretching the play and playing good football.

We have players right, left and central that are all capable of creating / winning games and it's showing.

theres no doubting that the spirit of the team right now is excellent in that we are battling right up until the end, however i do feel that we should be somewhat concerned with the regularity in which we are chasing games at the moment. to concede a goal against the likes of man united is one thing, but to leak the number we have against man city and wigan leaves a bit of a bad taste.

there used to be an old cliche that got spouted during the 1980's if we ever went behind. "Liverpool, never more dangerous than when they are behind"

thats starting to become the case again. I know its easy to say it now but at half time yesterday i was convinced we would win. when Riera scored i knew we would get a 3rd.

there was a period under Houllier when we went years without coming from behind to win. now its common place and its what maks title winning sides.

but i'd still like us to play with a high tempo from the start instead of waiting to go behind. when we commit men into the box we look dangerous every time we get the ball. someone is going to get an absolute battering off us soon.

Chelsea's squad is better than ours or United's in my eyes.

It has been for awhile and it's being utilised even better under Scholari.

They're clear favourites in my opinion.
